Yeah, humidity is absolutely a factor. Especially the bigger you are, not everybody is 5'8 130 lbs out on the course. Depending on genetics too, the heat and humidity, even more so the higher the dew point, the worse off the conditions are.
I am 180 lbs with no Mediterranean blood. I hate the heat, and unless I am at the beach, or by a pool, anything over 70 is too much. Give me moderately high altitude over a 65-70+ dew point conditions any day, especially race day.
I've ran some of my best times in much colder weather, as I am sure a lot of you have, but then some have no cold tolerance and their bodies shut down in anything below 40 degrees. It doesn't have to be hot either to have experience that heavy air/high humidity feeling. Hence why running in the Autumn months are more enjoyable vs July and August.
