Pretty good list. But you left out:
1. The Scramble for Africa - European colonial powers arbitrarily partitioned Africa amongst themselves. Basis of current economic conditions for both continents
2. The Transatlantic Slave Trade - At least 12.5 million Africans shipped across the sea against their will. Other than the dehumanising aspects of slavery, they were also used to build a new empire, and superpower , in record time. There would be no all-powerful United States of America today without slavery.
3. The American Civil Rights Movement - A mere 50 years ago, in the 1960s, a certain section of the world’s population is forced, for the first time, to confront the fact that they’re not superior to other peoples solely based on the colour of their skin.
4. Kip Keino beats world record holder Jim Ryun at the Olympics in 1968. ? The entire distance running world is shaken to its core by the emergence of Kenya as a running superpower and adopt altitude training as a standard for the first time.
