On the same day that Gene did this a 65 year old Australian woke, took a long piss and a satisfying dump and then trolled letsrun masters threads for 2 hours before even getting out of bed.
Is that not equally impressive?

I think I know you, do you live in Melbourne?

Finally, a believable time for a masters runner.
Maybe, but you're all forgetting the late great Kim Jong-il of The Peoples Republic of North Korea, he ran a WR in this age group (as well as many others), why isn't that being recognized?

So you are jealous on my behalf? While I am not. You are an idiot.
No need for both of us to be jelly.
Now start going on about why Gene didn't do 2:10 or whatever that's worth when he was younger as your "rules" state.
Still an idiot. His time at 70 is great but doesn't presuppose he would have been Kipchoge in his youth.
There are runners only 12 years younger than him running 30 minutes faster. How do you lose that much time in a decade? Either Gene is past it or the TRT brigade are going strong. Yep, they are.

It does with your math and yes, you still are an idiot.

Why are you the self-annointed arbiter of who is clean and who is not? What are your coaching or running credentials?
Signed,
Clean masters, reasonably consistent 90 percent age grade

He coached himself to a grinding halt at 30 and then read one 20 year old study and used that to confirm that everyone gets old early and goes downhill at the same rate as he did.

The indignation from the creaky knees brigade. But all worshipping at the altar of ageless sport.

I am the altar.
That's a tough cookie. Bravo!

Look at it from another view: will Kipchoge be able to run that kind of time when he's 71? ?

Well someone has to do it, so why not me, after all, I'm highly qualified to do so.

That's kind of dumb. Why would you need "coaching or running credentials" to speculate whether an athlete may or may not be using PEDs.? Most, if not all, of the IAAF anti-doping experts that reviews ABP cases have no running or coaching credentials. And some of these expets also double for the UCI reviewing suspicious ABP cases in cycling (do they also need cycling credentials? Lol).

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but the above post is not me.
If Gene is doing great for his age - and I think he is - then how is it runners only a decade older are 30 minutes faster? Alternatively, would you expect a masters runner to lose 30 minutes in 12 years, between ages 59 and 71?

He mentioned that he hired a coach five years ago. This shows a completely different attitude and this leads to better results. Running six decades does not mean that you always did it the same way or always optimally.
Look at the video. He runs like a clockwork and seems lively. This is what someone who can do it looks like. And yes, I expect a masters runner to lose 30 minutes in 12 years. This can easily happen if something comes in between (other goals, illness, fate, whatever). And if health permits, you can improve again. Not everyone but some.
