This kid is the real deal. Less than one second behind Brodey Hasty and beat more well known names like Dustin Horter, Connor Lane, James Mwaura , and Carlos Villarreal.
Low mileage guy in high school. He has a very high ceiling.

Why redshirt?
And did he then pay all of his expenses of travel on own or are schools allowed to pay their way nowadays.

Indiana redshirts all of its runners at some point. Just to be clear, Arjun is a freshman this year. He was in high school last season. He ran as a freshman in the fall and was on the team that went to XC nationals. He has just continued to get better and better. I do not know if he paid his way there. He redshirted indoor and now outdoor. I assume he will have a redshirt XC season at some point. He will end up being a D1 super stud.

Well now he looks like he could score big points at the conference meet. That redshirt might be coming off, just like it came off of Horter in XC.
Hey Hunter Moore or Andy Payne! Can’t figure it out which one!
I know who they are because I am SomeoneWhoKnows, but I am neither of them.

Not me.
Hello fellow University of Indiana runners.
How about those 5k races from Kyle Mow and Ben Beach!
Hey do you know Jack Jett?
I think he worked at Columbus Running Company in Columbus, OH. He’s going places.
If you mean Jackson Jett, yes, I know who he is. I know who all runners are. Refer again to my name.

Probably not Andy Payne. Maybe a Real Man...the father of Andy Payne.
Remember when Andy Bayer ran at Indiana? Andrew Poore remembers....
Desis represent!!!
Good news. It appears he was more of a mile/800 runner in high school, so this is a big improvement.
BTW I believe "redshirt freshman" refers to someone in their second year who redshirted their freshman year, whereas he is a true freshman.
Jha is great. Watched him run at many highschool meets in central Ohio and he always had a competitive drive that stood out. I realized he must be an incredible talent when I heard he was the injury prone type who was seemingly never 100%. So glad to see him doing so well now, seems that he has gotten past whatever was holding him back his senior year of highschool.
I'm a bit late, but this kid is truly insane. Ran a 14:56 as a junior in high school. Was injured his senior year, but could have potentially gone 14:20 or lower. I know his younger brother, who should also be a stud. He's a senior in high school now. Runs a 16:00 and placed 3rd in the OHSAA State Meet Preview last week.
Arjun holds almost every distance record at his old high school. Had he run the 3200m, he would have certainly claimed that record as well.
As for Andy Payne, I believe he's going to Eastern Michigan now. I'm not too sure how he's doing, but he should be a solid college runner as well, taking his high school PRs into account.

If you actually know Jackson Jett, you would know where he is running this year.

Arjun ran the 3200 a lot as a junior and dropped the school record from 9:26 to 9:22 to 9:11 as a junior. He then had injury problems as a senior and only trained well enough to run the 800. Andy Payne then ran 9:10 three times to set the school record in the 3200 that he still holds. Could be challenged by Zubin Jha, Arjun's younger brother, who, as you said, is a senior this year. Zubin ran 9:30 as a junior and has gotten better already in CC this fall.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
