Do you happen to be a Pakistani stats professor at a state university? Asking for a concerned Letsrun poster.

What education/training would it take for me to find a similar role?

Teachers don't make $150K and do work and contribute greatly to society as a whole. When did education became a subject of hate? Did our society decide that uneducated ignorance is a virtue?

Good question, 6-8 years on the low end. But to have the best chances of finding a job doing nothing in your preferred location, you should probably invest 10 years.

No, but would you believe that was my backup career goal?

I agree. There is a lot of hate on this thread. My message to everyone is to get as much education and experience as possible. Make yourself so qualified that nobody would ever dream of firing somebody with your credentials.

He? This is an equal opportunity forum so let’s be gender neutral here. If women get paid less for the same work as men, then shouldn’t OP, as a he, be making more for doing nothing?
Let’s be honest, there are no women posting on letsrun.
In my experience, women doing my job make the same amount of money as me...though I’d say they tend to work more. I don’t want to say women are less lazy than men or even that they have a better sense of ethics; I think they’re more worried about being told they’re not doing a very good job.

Yes, our society did.

Ya in what state do teachers make $150K?! Also, many of my family members were/are teachers - there's definitely A LOT of work involved. You can argue sure maybe they're just babysitting all day but trust me, there's alot of time outside of work dealing with bullsh*t - think lesson planning.
Although, maybe if you're a gym teacher you can get away with doing nothing....

We cap out at a little over a hundred in California. Not bad for “working” only half the year. About all that “outside of work” stuff: that only affects new teachers (and teachers who care about their students). For the rest of us: you don’t have to write lesson plans more than once. Mine were mostly done six or seven years ago and I recycle them every year. And they were mostly stolen from the retiring woman I replaced.Maybe I put 10 hours a year into scheduling/updating stuff and I can do most of that during class.

Does having photos of my boss making it with a transgender, without his wife knowing, count as being someone that they would not dream of firing?

You must be a victimhood and grievance professional. Probably something like a director for a government/ academic "Diversity and Inclusion" program.
Or maybe you work in the "Non-Profit" sphere, great pay, ZERO work product!
I don’t see any hate on this thread. It just doesn’t make sense....you have to actually work...you have to DO something in order to gain experience in any field. If you do nothing all day, then you’re not honing your skill sets, you’re credentialed but it’s full of hot air. Would you hire a contractor who sat around cruising social media all day or a contractor who spent his time building homes all day. I’d be scared to sleep in a house built by the former.
I just took my dad into the ER last month. I would have been terrified if any of those healthcare professionals were you. DOING your job is how you get experience, it’s not a piece of paper....there are new cases and new treatments to learn with every case. That’s why doctors have to continue their education after they earn their degree. I’m guessing you’re not a doctor.
My guess if you’re not practicing your specialty and you’re sitting around all day, you’re more disposable than you think you are. You just haven’t been caught.
I think this post should be reported to the government for fraud or abuse of position. You do nothing all day on someone’s dime. What state are you in?
Good for you.
It'll catch up with you somehow.
No such thing as something for nothing.
This is kind of a racist post. I’m sure you look the part.

You still mad, bro? Let it go..... Heck, look on the bright side, Trump probably won't be President after 2024

Ugh, you gotta go to work? Inherited $2.9 million after taxes a few years ago. I don't need to go to work @36 yrs old. Smoke pot most of the day at home and go for ocassional run.
How high do you have to get to feel like you’re not a pathetic piece of trash?
You greatly over estimate the medical profession. Your father went to the ED with something simple. Some people ran around and made you feel better. And then billed your father for $2300 and he ended up paying $75 of that. If he had anything complicated, you’re correct, you should have been terrified. Continue their education after their degree? Yeah, it’s called a residency. They’re making it a little more difficult to recertify now, but it’s not something anyone with half a brain works hard at...especially in an easy specialty like emergency medicine.
sounds like you found your niche!
there are many jobs out there that pay well, yet actually don't provide any large value to society.
most of these are in the government, hence why we have tens of trillions of dollars in debt...
my only question is why don't you try to live off $30k-50k for a few more years, ride this wave, then head out to a mountain town and live in a van with a stunning babe, spending your mornings running, afternoons relaxing, and evenings hiking/swimming/watching the sunset...
best of luck to you mate
