19 seconds off the national record for Naert
That national record from Vincent Rousseau is a tough one, and I'm pretty sure he was 100% clean.
Aliphine runs 2:26:50 for 3rd
And if I’m doing my leaderboard math correctly Roberta finished in 2:29:10ish for 5th place

The state of men’s marathon in the USA sucks, plain and simple. Just another example today.
I still want to know why this marathon didn't air on NBC Sports Gold even though it was listed there.
I paid $79.99, I would like everything they advertise at least.
I would also like an archive of last year's marathons (that they had and took away on January 5th), but that's a completely different discussion.

Belgium has a 2:07 guy.
Not counting retired chubby Rupp, the US has a bunch of 2:13-2:16 guys.
Come on Ritz next week!
You are pinning your hopes for American glory on a quadragenarian whose best marathon was a 2:08, 9th place finish six years ago.
I thought Noah was a internet meme and twitter personality. I didn’t realize he actually ran races. Interesting.
Anyone know how to get results of the top 20-30 people? A friend of mine ran and I’m having trouble getting them up. Sorry for the hassle.
He ran 2:19
Who won? Why? Were there windmiles?

Not sure why letsrun posters always make up false facts. Ritz ran 2:07 in Chicago in 2012. Why pretend he’s run a minute slower? (Not that it makes a difference bc the US men suck at the marathon, relatively.)
Are there any photos of Aliphine yet? Can't find any.
Stephanie was using Hoka Carbon Rockets for a year, even in training, before they were sold to public but Aliphine kept using Tracers (and often finishing behind Stephanie)
So kinda curious if Aliphine finally gave in and used the carbon spring. I've never seen a photo/video of her in training using them.
She does have a proven 69 vdot from multiple 1:09 half-marathons but her high-cadence style would exhaust her too soon at full distance. If she did this in Tracers, it's twice as impressive.
I just watched the entire 2016 race on Youtube, thinking it was the 2019 race (because it was titled that way) . I was surprised to see Tsegaye Kebede in the lead pack, who I thought had retired. Also, Geoffrey Kirui was in there, even though he is in the Boston field next week. I thought the announcers had their stat sheets mixed up since they kept saying it was his debut and he was only 22. Is there another top marathoner named Geoffrey Kirui with who looks just like the Geoffrey Kirui who won Boston a few years ago? In any case, the winner was the same guy.

His PR is 2:07:47 - in any math class I’ve ever taken, that would be rounded to 2:08, not 2:07. Btw my 5k PR is 14:59.8, and I don’t go around calling myself a 14 minute guy - would you?

Seems he ran a decent USATF 10k once and has done very little since. Had a unique story and the crazy hair became a bit of a cult hero but has produced zero since. Might be time for him to find a real job the running thing is not working out too well
Big weekend and big changes on the top 10 marathon countries list.
After 4-7-19:
1) Ethiopia - 2:03:34
2) Kenya - 2:04:11
3) Turkey -2:05:27
4) Brunei - 2:06:04
5) Netherlands - 2:06:17
6) Eritrea - 2:06:46
7) Switzerland - 2:07:24
8) Belgium - 2:07:39
9) Morocco - 2:07:54
10) South Africa - 2:07:58
Shocker: No Japan in the top 10. The US without Rupp not really a shocker.
