This weekend in Kingston, Jamaica, the world's greatest high school track meet will take place. There's a good chance that several future olympic medalists will be competing in this event so for those of you not familiar with Jamaican track and field, here are some of big contenders (ages in parenthesis)
Christopher Taylor (18) - Some call him the best high school athlete in the world. He's run 10.2 for 100m, 20.2 for 200m and 44.8 for 400m. This will be his last year before going to the next level, and the 400m record should fall.
Brianna Lyston (13) - As a 12 year old, she ran a 23.8 200m. At 12 years old. And female. She's dropped some sick times already this year, so expect the age group world record to fall.
Sachin Dennis (16) - Ran a 100m age group world record of 10.21 as a 15 year old (he actually holds the world record for 13 and 14 years olds, too). He's been battling injuries so his times might be off, but maybe he'll pull something extraordinary in this event.
Kevona Davis (16) - Last year, she ran an incredible 22.68 200m as a 16 year old girl. Might break the world junior record held by Alyson Felix.
Terrique Stennis (15) - Ran a 10.37 100m in the same race as Sachin Dennis last year, but he's a year younger. and has been looking absolutely scary in earlier races this year.
All of these kids, and probably a few more, will be standing on Olympic podiums in a few years.
