To think, this once great university had the brilliant Brutus Hamilton as track coach and AD.
Et tu, Brute?
KD would be ideal! Makes sense and would have great success with Cali midi men and women! Let’s make it happen.

programs can "make" the person and should be cautious. Beth Sullivan came out of Mankato State and did nothing there, went to Stanford. Under Vin's coaching she had great success, and not much since she left to be on own. Think Stanford program made her? Diljeet walked into BYU distance program that has been top in NCAA for three decades. Under Ed's coaching and the BYU machine she does well. Think she had that success before? no.
Actually Diljeet walkeed into a program that was only qualifying 5 to 6 to regionals and 1 or 2 to nationals in track and barely qualifying for ncaas in XC. The program took a big dip in shane’s last 10 yrs. so that last decade they were definitely not “top” as you say . Since she came in they’re doing great. Top 10 at ncaas in cross every season and had DMRs and individuals scoring pointd at ncaas. She gets a lot more to regionals too than before so the depth is better. Ed doesn’t do any coaching for the women it’s all her.
You guys throwing these names in do realize these people 1 have either zero to little coaching experience 2 have either zero to no experience about academic universities 3 would take massive pay cuts 4 the administration and alumns dont give a crap, saying otherwise is big fat lie. Also you all dont get what a director does, they're there to run a program not be just an event coach. Interestingly too none of you are thinking of the staff there now. By some cosmic mishap they actually have some pretty good ones who are getting paid peanuts and producing big time results with little to no support. Finally you guys dont get it that after pumping resources into the distance events in the last 40 some odd years the most success they've had has come from the field events which are financially neglected. So yeah maybe time to rethink things folks
Remember when Alicia montaña was publicly calling out Tony on social media, and then a couple weeks later posted a picture of herself topless on the track? Yeah I’m sure the administration is going to take her seriously. As far as the salaries, people can make it work in the bay area but likely somebody who already lives here and understands it. I know it would be hard for me and my family to adjust moving to the bay area and living in a one bedroom apartment after coming from an area that is much affordable to live in, can own a home outright.
As crazy as it sounds, this will be one of the times that is not something where the school brings in a big-name, rather hopes to bring up a local up and comer or someone that is willing to pay dues to potential help get to the next step in a career.
Based on Advanced metrics, I formulated the highest percentage chance of who's going to win this bracket. based on LRC feedback....
round 1
1. Helen vs. 8. Gipson. winner- 1. Helen
2. KD vs. 7. Alisyia (sp?) winner- 2. KD
3. Diljeet vs 6. Magda winner- 3. Diljeet
4. Shayla vs. 5. Satar- winner 4. Shayla
round 2
1. Helen vs. 4. Shayla winner- 1. Helen
2. KD vs. 3. Diljeet winner 3. Diljeet
Championship
1. Helen vs. 3. Diljeet
Winner?
3. Shayla.
See, The job got offered to Helen and Diljeet and they both died from laughter at the Salary and said "why would we work for less when we already destroy you guys... Helen even threw in there "I took USF from garbage to dominating Cal, no thanks."
Shayla is the upset winner!!!!

Looks like you have some insider info. Not sure why Alysia's financial status has to do with anything, were you one of the ones she didn't want to be friends with? If anything She will be apart of the hiring process I bet.
You dont have to be an insider to know Cal won't want someone involved who posts topless photos of herself on their track on social media ha! And the only ones who will have "influence" also have $$$. Alysia does not have that she said so on social media.
I love the internet. Not sure why you need money... Also where can we find these topless photos??? Berkeley worries about nudes? Not sure they would are much they have nude rallies all the time on campus. I doubt she even wants to apply anyway. My vote is for KD!
Cal should go with distance head coach. Their best chance of success is specializing in cross country and mid and long distance. Richie and Magdalena Boulet would be a great fit. Another qualified candidate who hasn’t been mentioned yet is Bolota Asmerom. Cal grad, D1 experience, and competed at a high level.

All of these names thrown around are clearly not going to happen. Nuts to even mention it.
Richie, Magda, Bolota, KD, Alysia etc were all great runners and are great people etc but have they been head coach of a D1 program? These people are asst coach material not head coach.
VanHoy or McGregor, heard it hear first!
In a conference with Stanford, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington, along with a slew of wannabe distance powerhouses you think Cal should go all in on distance? The Bay Area is loaded with talent in all areas. Look was Curtis Taylor did when he was around. Cal should go with whatever gives them the best shot at placing top third of the conference and a shot to win every couple of years.

Ummm...ever hear of sprint powerhouse USC? There’s not much talent in the Bay Area in any events, the best CA talent is in So Cal. With Cal’s rigorous academics they’ll have a better chance being competitive in the distances.
Mcgregor has almost zero coaching credentials and was an asset for less than 2 years. He was not an elite athlete.
They have been very competitive within conference with jumps and throws. Especially triple jump, shot, hammer. Those two groups score many of the teams points and have for quite some time now. Seems odd to go away from that?
This could go down as the least most desirable job in Power 5 history.
What exactly did Alysia Montano day about Tony? I missed it.

And they’re doing it with a distance head coach. Seems odd to go away from that?

This is the truth. Cal should go with Curtis Taylor. Cal graduate(?), success with local kids at laney college, National level success at oregon. Believe he still owns a home in the Bay Area.
