Crushed Liam Anderson tonight in Dublin in 8:47.97. Anderson a distant second in 8:56.88. Strangio led from the gun and just kept cranking it up until Liam lost contact. Strangio has to be the favorite at Arcadia after his performance tonight.

Liam ran a 1:57 open 800 at about 3:00 when it was very warm. Matt ran a fresh 3200. Not saying Liam would have won, but just thought it's important for context.
Strangio closed in 57-8, an amazing final lap considering the time and how early we are in the season.

Heres the race, watch it before it's behind a paywall.
Grade-time

What a phenom. Lange just keeps cranking 'em out.
Walt Lange is a legend. He's been coaching kids to the top of the U.S. since the 80s. How would you like to go sub 4:20 and not even be in your school's all time top 20?!!

Nico Young ran 8:13 for the 3000m in February. Hopefully he runs Arcadia with these two.

Those are some sweet splits.
8:47 moves him to #2 school all-time behind a Mastalir, who ran 8:44.
20 at 4:19 or better, plus 20 at 9:16 or better is awfully impressive. Notably, only 5 guys have broken 50 in the 400m.
The Woodlands has a listing that seems to date from just 2009, where they have no one under 4:10 but they do have 20 under 4:20 or 4:21 and 9:20 in that 11 year period.

Paywalls should be banned.

I think it just depends if the meet director will let his coach rabbit/pace for him.
Thank you!
Coach says he only paced as the competition wasn't fast enough. Shouldn't be a problem at Arcadia.
Poor Anderson, another XC champ doomed to be a 10k guy because he lacks speed

Strangio didn't seem to need anyone to make the pace fast enough. I've never heard of a coach pacing a high school kid in a meet. Is this common? Why not just race and do it yourself?
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
