Can't believe more hasn't been said about Daniel Komen. Only 39% of people surveyed thought he was doping??? What the actual fvck.

Threadjack here. Congrats on your half. Do you know of any database or list that has the top 100 or 200 U.S. half times in a given year for our age group? (I'm assuming you're in the U.S.; the UK has an easily-searchable list.)[/quote]
Thanks. I don’t know of any such database. I would love to know if there was one. It would be awesome to see what the top age group competitors are doing.

Generally the older the record and if it's from certain foreign countries the more suspicious people are.
Right. The older, the more special, as improved technology and knowledge and repeated attempts over the years didn't lead to an improvement. Plus, the older the record, the weaker and fewer the doping controls were...
As for the foreign countries, that's patriotism. Do the same survey in China or Morocco, and you'll get quite different results.
I would add, that the most outstanding ones are also the most suspicious. Say over a decade old, and/or more than 1% faster than the rest of the world, is clear evidence of doping.
You're wrong on this. "Innocent until proven guilty" does only apply to the legal system. "Rights" such as right to a fair trial or the right to speak freely only refer to a citizen's interaction with the government, not society at large. None of this implies that your peers can't think you are guilty prematurely.
Imagine you are sitting on your front porch and see a person you recognize throw a rock through your window. You call the police, they arrest the person and he is awaiting trial. Are you going to withhold your judgment on whether he is guilty or not until the jury comes to a decision? Of course not.
You are like the people who thought the Chic-fil-a gay fiasco was a matter of freedom of speech.
Also, why the hell would you go to the ethics department to ask about logic? Logic and ethics are both branches of philosophy. That's like saying one should go to the chemistry department to ask about DNA transcription.
These people are NOT innocent until proven guilty. Sorry, the records and most performances close to them are too incredible to believe.
You honestly think that Usain Bolt is the only person in history under 9.8 (or so??) that has never been caught for doping and he utterly obliterated that mark?
Just like, to that other guys point about Armstrong. The argument at the time was, in the dirtiest sport, the one clean guy is dominating?? Clean people don’t dominate dirty people. Clean people don’t set records.
If I had the chance to bet, I would wager no track or field record is clean.
MAYBE
Men’s pole vault
Men’s 800 (rudisha is amazing)
just let him have an opinion... I dont accuse every successful person of doping because that makes me enjoy watching less and it's useless to claim people are doping when you literally have zero control over anything that happens. Just let the guy watch track in peace

why would you presume that the government is not part of society?
"the government" is merely that part of our society that we have entrusted with certain administrative tasks. they are not some "other," they are society, too.
in addition, your post illogically posits that we only have freedom of speech when speaking to the government, but not when speaking to each other. I don't think you've thought this through very carefully.
cheers.
All of them. If you think for one second that all those wr's were run clean then you are very naive.

I wouldn't be surprised if even Putin was a doper.

Not Tadese, he broke the WR by only 0.2%, and it lasted 8 years. But add the ladies from the 80s of course.
Them, and Bolt, Paula, Bekele and Dibaba have additional strong reasons for suspicion.
Sorry, typo, 10 seconds = 0.28%.
A good thread title would be which WR holder are you most jealous of
I'm pretty sure the men's triple jump record by Jonathan Edwards is clean.
Obviously the record that's most certainly unclean is Koch in the women's 400.

He also says that usually people use doping who aren't at the very top, because they wanna get there or have financial issues.
Ben Johnson was at the op
Justin Gatin was at the top
Marion Jones was at the top
Rashid Ramzi was at the top
Butch Reynolds was at the top
Randy Barnes was at the top
Asbel Kiprop was at the top
Then you look at Tyson Gay.
He was at the top in 2007.
Then improved a bunch in 2009 but still took a distant second to Bolt and later was busted for PEDs.
There is plenty of circumstantial evidence of current records being doped either because past record holders did it or they are beating doped talented athletes.
Brahim Boulami was also way at the top - set the SC WR in 02 and tested positive for rocket fuel. The WR time of 7:53.17, which was flushed, hasn't been beaten now in 17 yrs!

Yes that list is quite long. Let's not forget Carl Lewis and Ben Johnson and Asafa Powell and Paula Radcliffe.
While not world record holders, the drugs cheats Olympic Champs like Baumann and Sumgong, and repeated Major winners Jeptoo and Shobukhova were also at the top thanks to their doping.
