Calling Trump critics “deranged” whenever the God Emperor catches flak is a good indicator that you know he’s a POS but can’t actually defend the man on the merits.
Everyone involved is a rich liberal. This is how liberals live their lives. They don’t give money to the poor or try to conserve in order to save the planet. They just want everyone else to do those things.
Highly selective schools will start to crumble. This won’t help their status. Some of these kids had actual SATs of 1000 yet were pushed through the college with passing grades. These colleges have different standards for different races but claim to provide top notch education. Shouldn’t they try to pick the top students without respect to race or gender or income? They charge a different price to low income earners. This current scandal was described by the FBIbas having eliminated some deserving students who weren’t willing to cheat.

I have no doubt that this is true, but OTOH the folks at USC should be grateful that it's being included in a group of "elite colleges"--there are many who find that description of the Universal Second Choice to be hilarious.
Pretty sure people of different political parties were involved. Some CEOs, etc. You are blinded by your own politics.
Chelsea Clinton probably got in on nepotism. GW Bush as well. Kushner after a $2.5M pledge. God only knows what Trump's father did to get him where he is for not just academics but business. Etc.

You claim this based on what, exactly?

Tell me: How did Lt. Bone Spurs get into Penn?
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/03/05/extensive-effort-bury-donald-trumps-grades/Not just bribing their way in to the school, it was also paying off ACT administrators to either give their kid the answer, or flat out take the test for them!

Yes, do you guys think all those Kennedys got into Harvard on their brain power? Do you think the Bushes were there solely on merit? Think Al Gore didn't get help since his daddy was a long time senator? I think we can all tell the Trump is not sharp enough to get into a state school, but his dad was rich.
This isn't a Dem/Rep issue and you guys are wrong to attempt to make it one. This is just about money and influence and the sham that colleges have been running on all of us for years.
Show me one conservative who was involved. By definition, liberal means you are open to anything.
This has been going on at every Ivy League school basically since they have opened. Of course the reverse happens at a lot of top athletic schools where the universities pay money to get kids with SAT scores 200+ points below the rest of the student body. And even at that, a large number of them have others take the tests for them so that they don't have to attend junior college. Colleges are corrupt. This is nothing new. College endowment funds are built off of corruption. All of the top universities have spots for sale.
The family members that you referenced were all admitted legally. The scandal being discussed in this thread deals with illegal things.

No, the university is ticked because they can no longer shake people down for donations without getting in trouble with the Feds. One of their greatest sources of funding just dried up.

A certain percentage of admits are based on race, geographic location, musical instruments, projected majors, and means to pay (they say they dropped that criterion years back but the student body has parents making over $200k on average). So, admissions based solely on academic quality constitutes a small percentage of admits, and the middle class and poor are almost entirely crowded out.
The aristocracy has always needed it's minstrels, court jesters and pets to keep them entertained.

So, how do we fix this? Meaningful social, economic, and, political reforms to level the playing field or something akin to what those Bolsheviks did in 1917? Trouble is brewing...
Well we wouldn't have Letsrun without it, so just think about that.

I would have been willing to cut you a break if you'd just written "esta," because not everyone has access to accent marks--but apparently you went out of your way to write "ésta." SMMFH.
For anyone who's curious: La gente está muy loca.
Sheesh.

Anyway, rich people are going to do what rich people are going to do. You’d have to be thick to think this scandal has something to do with a particular political party.
folks are now ranting about colleges letting in Kennedys, Bushes and Trumps, but that's not what this thread is about
This thread is about "not quite rich enough folks" who couldn't buy their way in through the school, who found a third party consultant offering a plan to get around the system by cheating on test scores, and faking athletic profiles. The universities are mad because someone gamed the system, and the bribes paid did not end up in the university coffers.
The Feds have no issue with "the standard shakedown for donations", that policy will continue unimpeded.

Damn. This makes Lori even hotter imho.
Her kids do sound like spoiled looney bins though.
