I actually really dislike that such a place advancement scheme would not be uniform across the state. I mean at least they have advancement by time, but having different standards in place for different regions seems much more "unfair" than Loudoun taking half the places in the state meet (which is perfectly fair even if it might be in conflict with other values in scholastic sports).
The conferences and regions are not set up in a uniform manner. No set number of schools from one region or conference to the other - why have universal standards. A conference with 5 teams will advance 5 individuals and a conference with 9 teams will advance 6 individuals. In XC some regions only have 9 teams should they advance the same number of teams as a region with 20 teams?
Seems reasonable that the individual conference standards should be calculated from that meet?
Why should standards for a conference meet in NOVA with only NOVA schools impact a Tidewater conference with only Tidewater schools? Region wide and state wide standards level the playing field at those levels...
