While Vic may be, oh well, probably will be, very good, I think other teams to watch are:
Aquinas - as you say, seven guys on last year (just not that top end talented)
Concordia, CA - if you paid attention they were in the hunt for distance points at outdoor in everything long. they'll be good
Missouri Baptist - while they lost their two studs, i'd expect the boat will be coming in again with 15 foreigners. of those, 2-5 should be good
Black Hills State - no ever says anything about them but they have quietly slipped into #2 twice the last five years. if they've got personel, they'll be there
Minot - ditto. once a winner always a winner. any word on recruits?
Malone - last year had a great recruiting and a really crappy season. don't count these guys out. Hazen is the only active coach who has actually won an naia national title
As for Cal San Marcos, Azusa, and Concordia NE (add Eastern Oregon in here) they always fold (callin it like I see it) At one time, the excuse was the cold weather of Kenisha, but now there is no excuse. You gotta show up boys, as you well know
Individuals -
Lagat: I dont Soimo has it anymore, sorry. too many chicks and too many parties
Vaquez - Sam Vasquez will have to be reckoned with. when was the last time an american won the title? it may be him
Cheromei - a much better runner than he looked last year now that he's in Simmons' program. could be real good
Some Other VIC Guy - who we kidding. everyone from vic was always on at nationals xc, indoor and out (except for cheromi at xc). must be the water
Also – SFU’s Wambui (he’ll be eligible), CSSM’s Lyon and Walquist cold all win if they are much improved. A lot can happen in a summer
Now go chew on that while I think about the old days with Lubuck, Life and the boys…..
