Well, Trump is good for something. I never really get taxes back. I either pay $100 or get refunded $100, but this year got over $3k back in a year in which I sold a home and sold stock. I'll take it.

????
Very nice.
Congrats on overwitholding. #dumb*ss
Is this really due to Trump or did you just withhold too much income to begin with?

Well, if he’s single his top bracket declined 1%. If he filed as married his top bracket dropped 4%. And, excluding the lowest bracket, every bracket underneath him also dropped a 2%-4% percents. So it makes sense he got $3k back. But just remember, that puts the government $3k more in debt. And also remember, unlike state pensions, social security is not a contractual obligation. Which means you have no legal right to receive social security even though you paid into it your while life.
Eventually the tax cut bill will come due. The easiest source of money is not paying out social security benefits that we all paid into our whole lives. And there’s absolutely nothing we can do legally because social security is not a contractual promise. It’s a nicety.

Lol, making $233k per year is surely not being rich.

0/10
I made $27k and getting $12k tax refund.
Suck it.
All things being equal (income, deductions, etc) as 2017, my accountant tells me I will pay $5,000 more to the Feds for 2018. Thanks Trump.

So, you loaned the government $12k at 0% interest. That is really dumb.

What twisted logic. No, the government took a pay cut.
Would you consider yourself more in debt if you took a pay cut? Or would you reduce spending in order to prevent yourself from taking on more debt to continue living above your means?

Who cares about social security other than poors? A guy making $233k shouldn't need social security.
Wife and I make $240k combined.
We both marked zero on our W4 which is the max our employer can’t withhold. We usually get $4000 refund. This year we owe $4000. Go figure!
with a salary like that & bragging about it on LRC you must be doing the work of the lord out there

Well mouthbreathing Trumpers in states like WI and MI may not be so lucky due to the Trump/ Ryan/ McConnell tax grab. Many will see their taxes go up as the suffer through double taxation due to SALT deduction elimination by the Fed.
But, given that these folks are mouth breathers that are incapable of critical thinking and logical thought processes they will likely blame Dems for their tax issues.

You’re in the 98th percentile by individual income.

The sad thing is you still had to pay in taxes more than the average American makes without so much as a thank you note. The next time some beggar asks you for money, tell them you gave at the Fed.

My tax liability this year is $245K.
Less than last year though.
