Why do the men just have Jager?
And Chris Derrick unless he scratched. Some other men aren't American like mo ahmed and Marc Scott if he's still with them
Jager is hurt. He was never on the start list.
Gwen FTW!!

Exactly. What is the point? Follow through and run Worlds. Whether or not it makes things more exciting depends on whether top US runners show up to nationals and the compete and worlds. Beyond that, it remains only exciting in this small niche of the internet.
Then make prize money contingent on fulfilling the team obligation, if not all then at least for 50%+ of it. Injured? Sorry, but you have to take a prize money reduction.

World Cross is March 30, so about 2 months between nationals and World Cross. The timing is bad and would cut into outdoor track / spring marathon buildup.
Shannon Rowbury is back in shape?

Wilson, Martinez
I'm surprised they didn't mention much about Kellyn Taylor in their preview. She ran 2:25 for the marathon less than a year ago, has a good half time, and was 4th at the trails for 10k in 2016. I think she could be top 5 for sure.

Outdoor track for professionals is delayed by like a month this year, because Worlds is in late September/early October, and USAs is in late July. There is plenty of buildup time.
Interesting how a group of whitegirls is a "squad" but a group of black guys is a "stable."

I think the best you could hope for with this proposal is a net zero change in participation. People who want to run world cross will run world cross. People who don’t want to run world cross will skip nationals because the money isn’t there anymore. Huddle, for instance, isn’t going to do worlds this year because her main focus for the spring is a marathon. So if there’s no money at nationals, why wouldn’t she stay home and train or enter a road race somewhere she can pick up some cash? The incentive works exactly the opposite of how you want it to.

True, but if athletes are planning to race indoors like Houlihan is, it will interrupt the prep for outdoors. Cross in general is not something pros focus on.
