Ichiro was my favorite player of all time but he wouldn't crack the top 20 of all-time players.
If I had a choice of 3 players and i had to win 1 game today, I'd pick:
Rose- hate him but he always played to win
Henderson- wanted to win and could do it so many ways
Brett- always gave you his absolute best
Ted Williams
Josh Gibson
Willie Mays

Ken Griffey Jr.
Ruth played right field. Barry played left field. Not sure why you would flip them.

Ted Williams - best hitter of all time (somewhat subjective, but defensible)
Nolan Ryan - best pitcher of all time (same)
Willie Mays - best fielder of all time (much more objective, obv, harder to quantify)
But I feel good about those three. Much better than the obligatory "Babe Ruth" and "Sandy Koufax".
Surprised no one has mentioned Pete Rose yet... amazing hitter and fierce competitor. You can bet he'd be up there.
Nolan Ryan?!?
OK, you're joking. I get it.

Good list. But without Cleon Jones I'm not altogether on board.

Ted Williams - best hitter. May get another chance to prove his skills since his corpse was frozen cryonically
Ty Cobb - most competitive and still holds many records
I would agree, and add that Ty Cobb's legacy is inaccurate to reality (his reputation is based off of one article from a sportswriter back in the 20's i think).
Pitchers need a separate category, unless we're talking National league where pitchers hit too.
Top 3 Pitchers:
-Cy Young
-Nolan Ryan
-______________ too many to debate from pre 1940 to modern.
What is it with some of you folks and your Nolan Ryan fetish? No way is he a top 20 pitcher of all time!
What’s baseball?
1) Rose
2) Cobb
3) Walmsley
And Walmsley would crush the other 2 if they dared to play ball in the canyon. Bang bang!
As someone said, Ryan doesn't even belong among the top 20 pitchers
I asked my dog and she said "Ruuf!"
Also, Chico Escuela
A-Rod
Willie Mays
Mariano Rivera
Ozzie Smith
Barry bonds
Fernando valenzuela

For one game? Maybe not Ryan. Maybe Pedro, Clemens, Rivera, or someone that played before I was born or games were televised. But “all-time” implies longevity. I would like to know who you like better.
