some of these studies are exclusively observational for all-cause mortality, which can lead to confounding results.
ie people who run 30-50mpw are more likely to die than people who walk 10mpw. the confounding variable might be that people who run 30-50 mpw tend to be 20-50 yo and drive their cars faster than 60-70 yo people who are retired and aren't driving 2 hours per day to work in a rush.
