That's just such an ignorant thing to say that Juco is like high school. Look at the national meets and performance list and see if it's just like high school. Yes the back end is bad but the top end programs not so much.
You’re right it’s not like high school, it’s worse. The top high school times are better than the top juco times every year.
Look it up.

So there was a high schooler who ran faster than 19.82/44.73 this season or any season?
I think you should stop looking at D3 juco results.
Does anyone know anything about the special assistant to the athletic administration job at Arizona State?

USF should hire Mark Napier. He currently resides in the Tampa area and has had a great career of coaching track and field at many levels(Hs/Juco/D1) I believe he has a State championship(s)/Juco championship(s) and D1 conference championships on his resume. USF doesnt need to spend a lot time interviewing candidates when the best man for the job is in there backyard. Hire Coach Napier and start winning immediately!!
All mine: Where is the San Jose State job posted? Thanks
Absolutely not worth any amount of money to work there. The administrations is an absolute mess and with the new plans to turn the old track into a parking lot, they clearly do not care about track and field. I would absolutely run from this job.
Will it pay decent?
Penn has just posted a new assistant coaching position, women's mid-d and d.

No... that's life for you. The percentage of sh-tbags in society that will cut you in a second if possible, is very high.
Truuuuu day!
Oh yes they do. Highest I've heard is around 70k.

Says a whole lot about their thoughts and plans for track and field when the admins plan to scrap such a historic track.
I agree.
I signed the change.org petition to protect the track in response to a thread here on letsrun. Now I’v received countless updates about the total disarray at SJSU. The last updates detailed how female athletes are trying to get the AD and president fired because they aren’t treated like the football or men’s basketball teams.
I obviously don’t know the details of SJSU specifically, but it’s representative of what college athletics has become. The attitude of entitlement among current student-athletes, and the flippancy with which they try to disrupt the careers and lives of supervisors with whom they disagree, is a perfect example why most coaches across the country are frustrated and many are leaving the profession altogether. There are few schools across the country that truly care about track/XC and allow coaches to do what’s necessary to succeed. And I’m not talking about breaking rules or mistreating athletes, but simple things like holding athletes accountable for personal conduct, attendance and effort. I was at the NCAA Prelims 2 weeks ago and every coach I spoke with has a story.
One example, a female 400 athlete is told by the coach she’s running 4x4 at conference. Minutes before start she refuses to run because she wants to preserve herself for NCAA Prelims in the 4x4. So the coach decides not to run her on relay at NCAA. The next week the coach is called into a meeting without warning with the AD, athlete, parents and Title IX coordinator in which he is being accused by student of sexist and racist behavior toward the athlete. Luckily the situation was resolved in this case when the parent heard the full story and sided with the coach!
The resulting reality of this athlete-empowerment among administrations, and in turn coaches, that value self-preservation is to place greater emphasis on student-athlete experience than competitive results in non-revenue sports.
As poster above was saying, I’d caution any young person interested in coaching as a career to investigate what it truly is for 90% of the jobs out there. If you value competition and working relationships, not to mention salary and work/life balance, look elsewhere.

Since there was no 4x4 from SJSU at first round, I'm assuming you must mean a different team?
Correct, different school. SJSU’s troubles are in the public eye, but pointing to an example that could occur on any campus these days. If an athlete is held to a high standard they can claim they feel unsafe to damage the coach and enter the portal.

Lol, most likely budget for the staff.
What is the threshold that separates a "hobbyjogger" from a "sub-elite" runner?

Do "running influencers" harm the competitive nature of the sport?
Why's it cost every household $5000 in taxes just to run a public school?
