So, XC has been OK here, but track has been nailed to the bottom of the conference. So what's the story here - was that the outgoing coach's emphasis, or is there little institutional support, or is UPS a tough school to recruit to?

It's already been open. Christine Engel left for North Dakota three weeks ago. It's probably already filled without a press release yet.

Any idea when this will be open? What will they be looking for?
It's not filled yet. She hasn't officially left yet, but she will.
If you live on campus and have a meal plan you are looking at close to $65,000 a year, for an average at best education (acceptance rate is almost 80%)
Good luck recruiting without scholarships. Plus administration will just want someone who brings in numbers at this point, they wont care about quality. Which might be up some coaches ally I guess.
Donald Hood former Abilene Christian Coach will be the head

Where is ken Ciolek off to now?
Anyone know what the Catholic University position pays? Being an assistant coach in Washington D.C. sounds like a meager existence.

D3 Macalaster (St Paul - MN)- both head and assistant women's coaches retire the day after nationals
Anyone know if this was planned or a surprise?
Planned. They've been coaching for a collective 50 years and waited to end on a good note (Aguiar getting national indoor 800m 'ship and 4th outdoor). Left the program on good terms.
So who gets the gig?

Like the story that's been on the website for two weeks says?
Stephen Sousa didn't actually start the program at William Peace University. Peace recruited the former head coach for Eastern Mennonite University and then shafted him a month before the season started because he stood up to the AD about a few issues he had noticed. Word is that the AD got fired last month for improper relationships with female students. That place is a circus.
Minnesota State is looking for a new cross country coach. Not sure what happened to Chris Rombough, but he is no longer listed as a coach on their website. Fired?
He resigned at the end of indoor.
They (Minnesota State) actually have two positions currently open.

UPS is really expensive, and obviously doesn't offer scholarships. Only one full-time coach on staff. Difficult to recruit both men and women for all event groups to an expensive school that doesn't have a long standing tradition of success.
I heard a couple of names being thrown around for this one. Patty Ley, formerly at Gonzaga, and now at Gig Harbor High School is one that would make sense. The former Pole Vault coach at Washington, Pat Licari, was also mentioned as being interested.
Sam Houston State Jumps/Sprints coach
Pat Licari would be great for this position! He got Shafted Big Time by the New UW Staff! Great Coach and Great Guy!

He might have been deserving of staying on but that’s the business we’re in. And from the looks of things on the outside, it was a good move for the Powells to make the hire they did.
Would have been better had they kept Pat. Oh well, their loss
