You guys are cracking me up! I used to be in the camp of just post about coaching jobs. Now this whole ...Dir. of Ops,... Cardinal v. Cardinals, it's a bird, it's a color, it's a tree... he's not a student, he is a student. It's all fun to follow along.
What's your opinion on calling it the Pac-10 (vs. 12) Championship on the mens side since USC and OSU are such sellouts that they don't field a mens XC team?
I think it’s a great idea to call it the pac-10 since there are 9 men’s teams!
I agree. Tons of throws GA jobs and full time jobs posted this summer! I’ve seen probably 10-12 or more!
Anyone have any insight on the Western Illinois Assistant Job? They don’t seem to be too good in XC. I’d it Bc of Lack of scholarships or Lack of Head Coach putting more money into other areas?
Ya but they are all crap jobs. So don’t equate many jobs meaning desireable.
how does lets run feel about a reference for a young throws coach, during the referential phone call, put their name in the hat for the job and then take said job.
And it’s an entry level gig. They guy was probably looking for first gig. And this retired a$$ just steps in. And he is not gods gift to throws like he thinks he is.

So, you’re saying some jobs are only for the unqualified? It sure looks like a good fit for all.
i mean, stanfords bringing in two candidates for their throws position who have 0 to negligible coaching experience. this seems to be the status quo.....

Sounds like Johnny Orr -
Orr left Michigan to become the head coach of the Big 8 Conference Iowa State Cyclones in 1980, a program that had not participated in an NCAA tournament since the WWII era. Orr would go on lead the team to six NCAA Tournaments in 14 seasons. The surprise move to Iowa State in 1980 came about when the Iowa State athletic director called to inquire about Orr's assistant, Bill Frieder. When Orr learned how much Iowa State was willing to pay Frieder, Orr negotiated the job for himself. Iowa State initially paid Orr $45,000 annually compared to his $33,665 salary at Michigan.
any other anecdotes on this topic? actually pretty interesting tbh.
“Cardinals” WTF, SMDH. It’s a color, people! This is out of control.

Seriously? That is pretty bogus that 2 women with no coaching experience be up to get Stanford as their first job. I wonder how many men or women with years of success didn’t even get a look. JJ has his connections so no doubt it’s Sasha from ole miss. I know expect similar levels for the other hires. JJ will now be the favorite coach of the rest of the PAC12.
What up with UV rest of stff? Who's being retained, coming in, leaving etc?

This reminds me of a story from 'way back in the day. Bob Giegengack (head coach of the 1964 Olympic team, nominal coach of Frank Shorter, yada) retired in 1972 after 20+ years of coaching the Yale men. His assistant, Lee Calhoun, was elevated to the head coach's position, and when the other Ivy League coaches learned this, they went out for drinks together--knowing that they wouldn't have to worry about Yale anymore. Lee had become their favorite coach.
I started coaching right about that time. I aspired never to be the reason for other coaches' celebratory drinks.
Is UVA settled on Jason Dunn for Director? I guess I can understand it’s easy this late into the summer, but are others applying for this position? Rumor has pay and budgets surprisingly low, but sure seems like a great program to focus on just a couple areas and the school recruits itself!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
