Doubtful that Western Mich. has a hire in place. Shehan was just announced at Yale.

Actually that is totally inaccurate statement and Kevin knows it regarding almost taking coastal Carolina to nationals. I was there.

Looks like a certain former SVSU runner who has bounced around the state is going to be their distance coach.

Bounced around colleges or bounce around high schools?

do we anticipate that programs who suffered last minute departures - West Mich, Drake, Marquette, etc to name permanent replacements in-season or ride things out until next summer with interims?
Difficult to recruit for 2020 if you can't tell recruits who their coach will be
Western Michigan head coach was fired Wayback in the winter. It took them this long to hire someone and yet there still is no official announcement.
Stormie Sickler to Northern Colorado per her LinkedIn

Ugh I hope it's not who I think it is

It is.
Not quite the caliber the rest of the MAC has hired, and yes, I know, it’s “just” the MAC.
Jake Hursyz as new CSUN distance coach
...between the lines. If it’s who I think it is, and she’s just a mediocre division two throws coach that thinks she can coach the sprints as well, this has the makings of a massive disaster. They will be dead last in the mid American conference within three years in both cross country and track.
So who are the contenders for Florida State?
I hear Matt Kane is the front runner.
what does lets run think of this hire?
Not a bad hire.
It does not make sense for a CSU school in Northridge to put what scholarships they have into distance, anyway. Hurysz may be a good pick as far as putting his nose down and working autonomously, and doing his best to do what he can with little support.
It is likely not a desirable position (untenable salary; while inexperienced as a coach, the guy's athletic experience has given him some insight on what it takes to be successful as a collegiate.
That said, I don't know him.

Jake Hurysz
Gonzaga Volunteer Assistant 2017 XC Season
Ole Miss Volunteer Assistant 2018 Track Season
Florida State Operations Assistant 2018-2019 XC/Track Seasons
By my count, he has been in the business for 2 full years and if he takes CSUN that would be his 4th program during that span. I assume he has done some coaching but how much? I doubt he wrote anything or had a group since the head coaches he has been with are great coaches. I haven't seen an announcement, but if he goes to CSUN, he will be done there by next June to go somewhere else. He is going to need to start putting in time though, schools will look at his resume and see 9 stops in 5 years at this rate.

It looks like the Big West is going with coaches that are learning on the job. UC Irvine did the same by hiring Casey Kear as their distance coach. Not much experience at either school. With UCSB falling apart, and UC Davis being a non factor, I don't think Cal Poly has anything to worry about. They will stream roll through the Big West conference with ease!
It's quite impressive how well Stanford has done at keeping things quiet. Or maybe there's just no progress being made.

i realize you can rack up a bunch of points with throws but how many throws coaches out there direct a XC and track program?
Halter is a throws coach who is also the director of track / XC @ Mizzou. Athough he only coaches javelin these days, he did coach all throws up until a couple of years ago.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
