They had a very inexperienced AD and a 24 year old cheerleading coach who comprised the search committee.
My guess is this job pays very poorly

How much does this position pay?
My sources say full-time position with HEAVY emphasis on recruiting bodies/numbers.
$24K/year, limited benefits, zero retirement fund. Expensive small town to live in. -
You can’t live there on $24k per year. It has to be someone with a spouse that has a Dal job in the area.

jaymes talkington left wcu and is headed to ksu

Do you know this for sure? He has been found on his Instagram to be back with his team and starting training for the livingstone indoor season.
-
Sadly, the athletes are coaching themselves. Everyone's doing their own thing, getting coached by their high school coaches, etc... Not all bad though; the distance crew may look better than ever doing training that actually works for them rather than mumbo jumbo from a throws coach.
-
He was never offered the position.

wcu? who? season is here
-
Yes, Davis with Livingstone.

Announcement?
Didn’t they just hire a sprint coach?
Who will coach throws? Distance?
Catamounts wanna know! -
Don't know anything other than Davis not taking over. The Sprints coach is fairly new.
-
Apparently the new WCU head coach is going to be real good for the distance crew.. real good.

“real good” = better than Furman = SoCon XC champions ??

Look for Manteo Mitchell to be named the New Head Coach at Western Carolina. Spoke with him yesterday and he is back on campus today (Tuesday Jan. 8) for a final chat with AD. They have told him it is his job to turn down. Have offered him 70k for HC position.
-
Any knowledge on if the current Sprints Coach will stay or leave?

No way does WCU have $70,000 to offer for a Track HC, let alone one with ZERO college coaching experience (Mitchell)
