Keep in mind, Michigan is a work at will state, so the admin could let Coach Lycan go for anything.

This doesn't make sense. He wanted them to stop using the n-word but used it himself. Did he slip? Did he use it for emphasis? Why did he want them to stop using it? Was this a common thing between black athletes (one has to assume no whites were using it or they would be gone too) or were they reciting rap lyrics? This seems like an overreaction unless he was being malicious in the use of the n-word.
I'm guessing he said stop using the word N****r.

But, one can't be falsely accused of doing something they didn't do. I am saying this based on the presumption of innocence about using the n-word.
You better have a Boston Qualifier valid for 2020 to coach
Should be a requirement
Depends which D2.
Anyone hear that a Belmont Abbey assistant got the head position at Wingate?
Volunteer assistant. Needs masters degree to be a head at Wingate.
In theory you are correct, but the at - will doctrine can be modified or excluded by a written contract. The AD said specifically that the Coach violated the terms of his contract. She would not have needed to say that if the Coach was employed purely at - will.
What is going on at Lipscomb? A bunch of their guys are on the transfer portal, including their top guy. Trouble in Christian Paradise?
Coach Lycan, who is a fine person and coach doesn't deserve the lack of support that his athletic administration gave to him, and the resulting bad publicity this has caused. Essentially, he tried to educate an international athlete on certain words that you simply don't use in the U.S. This athlete had created some bad tension in the program with her use of the n-word. Coach Lycan was trying to help alleviate a problem within the team, and there were black athletes present when he tried to educate this international white athlete. The black athletes went and complained, and his administration threw him out the door. You work your butt off for 18 years and its not given any weight. This is just sad.
Standing up for a great coach and guy wrote:

Was it the girl from China? I don’t see how telling her to stop using the word for the sake of the team and the other athletes, even if he used the word for emphasis, should get him fired. That is crazy.

The head coach is a basket case control freak. Wife is too heavily involved as well it’s very sketch. Assistants turnover is crazy, level headed guys that just can’t work for a tyrant. 800 guys ran well last year and maybe miss that coaching and will transfer becuase of this.

With coaches gathering at Nationals there has to e a power 5 rumor or two about gigs coming open. Who is on the way out after indoor?
Not a volunteer assistant if she is a paid employee of the school.
Anybody that knows the track coach knows you will have issues. Mark Phillip's has half-assed his way through life piggybacking off of his coaching staff. Then takes all the credit for other peoples accomplishments. Best of luck to the guy that replaces Dan, you will need it.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
