As a student-athlete at Stanford, to see people claiming these things is just infuriating. We have not been told a single thing by the athletic directors and the coaches that are still around (Jumps, Sprints and Throws). They are all just as confused about when they will find out who the new coach is, if not one of them, as we are. They haven't told anybody who they've interviewed so if you aren't here, and you are just speculating, please stop. We want to know just as badly as you but creating a flurry of ideas isn't productive for anyone.
Kid, don't feed the trolls. Because those who actually know what's going on have learned not to tell anyone else anything, this thread has become a clown show of 24-year-old distance dude bro's speculating that other moderately successful 29-year-old distance dude bros in their little worlds (and other trolls attempting to trigger them for amusement) are up for real director jobs - not understanding what those jobs actually entail. Half the questions posed in the last few pages have been answered for weeks if you're in-the-know. Many of them aren't even secret anymore...but still aren't ending up on here. Either way, your school is obviously taking this search very seriously and surely is working hard for whats best for you and your team...which is partially why they're not leaking anything. As I'm sure your prior coaches have told you, "trust the process." Now, let the circle-jerk of 24-year-old distance dude bro's get back to what they were doing.
I heard Magness form Houston has thrown his hat in the ring. That would be a very good fit for Stanford. My money is on a young, new blood guy taking the job. Retreads are not in fashion these days.
I’m here for the circle jerk... blindfolded no blindfold. Let’s get this going. I call the dude with the most calluses.

It’s a job where the expectation is to win the national championship, and you’re going to bring in someone who can’t even get people to the regional meet?

How good of a coach is Maas? Western Illinois is terrible, but I know part of that is probably due to the struggles of the school as a whole. Still, doesn't seem like he got much going there.
I guess we'll see. Parkside is resourced strongly and they have arguably the bets xc course in the nation... arguably. if you can't do it here at DII, then you can't do it anywhere. IMHO.
The Out of Bounds has not been adopted by any NCAA schools. It is not NCAA policy. It is a case study and a potential model. The use of the term sexual abuse is a main reason schools haven't adopted it. They would have to implement this to entire university including grad schools. The language is too harsh and it is only an opinion of the authors of the study. According to Inside Higher Education (2012/05/01) the NCAA sent this out but it was informational in nature and not a mandate. There is no penalty for schools who ignore it (all of them so far). The other sticking points are the waiting of two years after graduation for all students (some grad students are in their 30s) and the "no amnesty" aspect. Many feel as though they should offer coaches the chance to just come clean. These relationships are terrible and harmful to all involved. Out of Bounds is a great study and a great place to start but it is not at all a policy or a mandate for our institutions. Interestingly they note that most colleges and universities do not have a policy in place and only mention that professor/student relationships are discouraged. Kind of odd.

I think this is a great hire for UW-Parkside. Maas knows the region/Illinois from a recruiting standpoint and will not rely on just Wisconsin and Michigan.
Really? I must have missed those fast times coming out of Western!!

For a big 10 job being open the throws world is really quiet about Rutgers. It is in the basement for throws but with the academics/name and talent pool available it doesn’t have to be.
Heard the dude from Towson to Rutgers but that was just on a throws forum.
NCAA schools are cowards and they all know they'd have to fire some of their favorite coaches (and professors) if implemented Staying in Bounds. The authors of the article are EXTREMELY well qualified and everything is based on in depth research.
Time and time again administrators neglect to take the steps necessary to protect student-athletes. It is SICKENING that the moderators keep deleting posts with the link to the study as this is an incredibly important issue.
Every coach in the NCAA should read this:

TL-dr Nah, would rather bang co-eds. Why don’t you want to have relations with attractive legal age women?
what forum was that?
Lol. someone is steering the crazy train out of the station. Obsess much Mom? We get it. Don’t date athletes. Thank you. Yes the ladies who wrote it have nice job or professional titles. Obviously over 2000 universities have decided to not use it for good reason. But hey maybe they should listen to you!
must've missed that one, dude from towson
What throws forum is that?

Some of the worst academics out there. ACT average 20. - JUCO level
Any D2 level runner that values academics in the least is bypassing Parkside.

Isn't it against NCAA rules to work as a high school coach, and volunteer at an NCAA school at the same time?
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
