It’s funny someone said that Tuohy is more talented than Dibaba when Dibaba ran 14:49 at the same age. 14:49 is LIGHT YEARS faster than 15:37. They’re not even in the same ballpark. Tuohy is awesome and I’ll always root for her, but comparing her to one of the greatest female talents ever is a joke.
Again, these posts are total cornball bs.
Dibaba has zero teenage credentials. All of her "teen" times were run while she was in her 20s, loaded with that sweet Italian EPO. Anyone who doesn't disregard E. African "teenage" times is a fool.
A clean teenage Tuohy destroys a clean teenage Dibaba.
Just to be generous, I’ll give you that Dibaba was in her 20s for times ran as a teen (even though, as someone else said, that would make her long-term success up to the present even more impressive).
Tuohy is still NEVER going to run the times or have the career Dibaba had. And I say that as someone who is wholeheartedly rooting for Tuohy and wishes her the best. But you think some American girl in the next decade and a half is going to rub 14:11, 29:XX, and 2:17, in addition to all of the gold medals? Come on, man. The odds are astronomically low. I’ll eat my own shoe if she surpasses Dibaba’s career.
By the way, you gave absolutely no proof, but I’ll just grant you that you’ll never believe Dibaba’s age. But how you do as a teen ultimately doesn’t matter. It’s how you do as an adult that does.
