Lol at saying W&M instead of VMI
Lol at saying W&M instead of VMI
You’re a total d0uchebag, but I’ll bite on the condition that Adams State, Chico State, Grand Valley State and the rest of the top D2 programs be allowed to race against you guys, and either make you look sorry or very sorry depending on whatever barely-not-a-joke D1 team you carry the Gator made for.
While there were coaching issues with this program in the not too distant past (a whole class quit, for example), William and Mary certainly belongs in D1 territory.
William and Mary Men WON the Southeast Region 3 years IN A ROW (2008-2010) and placed 5th at NCAA Nationals in 2009.
William and Mary Men have won 19 CAA Cross Country titles in a row. While this is admittedly an extremely weak conference, there have been some legitimate teams from Northeastern (think Eric Jenkins) over the years. Also, Luis Vargas ran in this conference.
Furthermore, William and Mary WOMEN did extremely well in the mid 2010s. William and Mary women were 2nd in the Southeast region in 2013, and WON the Southeast Region in 2014. The women had several cross country All-Americans and even a 3rd place finish at NCAAs in outdoor track (10k) during this time.
I know this may be a troll thread, but it is important to remember historical performances and stories from teams, instead of just their results from the past year or two.
UMass Lowell, Washington State. Are you kidding me
Washington State is a viable D1 team. Eastern Washington should probably be D2.
Buffalo and Canisius- knock them both back to D3. Cornell as of late. Albany too. SUNY Binghamton gets to stay for now. And oh.. St. Bonaventure... Not really sure why they even exist.
Remember when Adams State beat Oklahoma (twice!) the year Oklahoma won nationals?
I think your division fetish is alarming.
WSU. Go all in with distance and don't make the national cross country meet. Alums aren't happy with the state of affairs with the track & field program.
They should be able to beat the best D1 teams yearly because they dump most scholarship into distance and they are able to get all of the really dumb kids that can't get into D1 schools.
Why isn't Adams State D1???
Adams State is not D1 because then all of their runners would be ineligible due to grades or age.
All of D2 is a bunch of 800 SAT scoring single dads.
Are they? wrote:

This was the first year, in the last 4, that they didn’t make National meet. Really think a team ranked 23rd in the national cross country rating index doesn’t belong in D1? They have some young team members that will be making a big impact in the years to come.
FYI...the latest 8 signing announcements were not for distance.
Mercer University (Macon, Georiga) should be added on the list.
Washington?! Seriously?!! They have Andy Powell as their head coach, Matt Centrowitz as an assistant, and they are getting many top recruits next year.
Colleges are almost certainly not going to make decisions on conference and division affiliations based on the results of their XC and track teams. If those teams perform well, their accomplishments get added to some numbers on their website and the profile of the AD. If the XC & track teams are bad, it really doesn't matter. They may fire the coach but they aren't going to reconsider what division the school is in. Football and Men's basketball programs are the deciding factor in those regards.
He said WSU. Washington state. Not UW
What are the NCAA requirements for an athletic program to be D1 or D2. Start there. Realize there are more sports than XC that an athletic program has to take into consideration. I wonder if there’s a LetsTennis where some slob is bitching about the mediocrity of a school’s tennis program?
