In a chat with some of my coworkers a few weeks ago, one of them casually mentioned that he could run 6 miles in 30 minutes. I was taken aback by this claim and asked him if he understood how fast this was. He said yes, that his "warmup" when going to the gym consisted of running a half an hour on a treadmill at all paces faster than 10mph.
Obviously, I was still skeptical. He's not at all a runner, although he still plays another sport competitively and it's my understanding that he's quite good at it (went to Worlds last year I believe).
He was certain he could do it, I was certain he couldn't, so our other coworkers suggested that we head to the workout area one day to settle the debate.
We set the treadmill for 12mph (5min pace) and he attempted his run.
How long do you think he lasted?
