I'm a gambling addict, that is also addicted to running 50 mpw and at least 2 ladies/week. This is truly a tough way to live. Thank goodness, I'm not an alcoholic, or that would be the end of me. As for the ladies, I have a fellow female 'addict' who helps me out if I'm unable to score on my own. Thank god I'm a decent poker player to support this this lifestyle. I can typically leave the tables by 10 pm, so that I'm up by 6 am to get in a good 5-10 mile run.
My life will make a great movie some day.

I think it is a nasty addiction. If you have morals and ethics you wouldn't objectify girls that way. Maybe I have more morals then most guys because I'm waiting for my soulmate. I don't like the idea of STDs and AIDs. Promiscuous and debauchery are nasty qualities.
People who believe in “soulmates” make me want to vomit... bbllaaaaggghh!

I’m curious if sex addicts feel that shame always, or only if they do something immoral to someone else.
ALWAYS
I have found myself consumed with picking up trash, turning off lights, avoiding straws, avoiding driving, ie TRYING TO SAVE THE MF PLANET, BUT then scientists have already told us the # of days of planet earth is finite....sad. Yes, I am consumed.
Every addiction brings its own type of misery - and hurts other people. Heroin addition is probably the most dangerous in terms of actually dying.

Opinions anyone?
Until recently there was no agreed upon definition of Sex Addiction, and it was not considered an addiction.
However the long term definition of addiction "An addiction is any regular relationship with a substance or behavior that you cannot engage in that has life damaging consequences."
And, you don't have to do it every day. You can just do it once a month, if you rely on it for "relief."
Theoretically, some have believed running to be a "positive" addiction. But for those runners from the 70's with mild to severe over use injuries (peripheral neuropathy, debilitating arthritis etc.) that's debatable.
The research "fact" that every man's third thought when not otherwise busy, is about sex... augers for sex addiction to be more an instinct than addiction. What, an addicted guy is going to have every 2nd thought be about sex!?"
Before there was an internationally agreed upon psychiatric definition of sex addiction, I had a housemate who asked me one day if I thought he was a sex addict. So, I gave him the generic definition of addiction. I knew the guy was into sex parties and the like. Later he became "bi," still later he raped a woman (she had fallen asleep) at a sex party. So yeah, life damaging consequences.
I would say regular use of prostitutes, sex addict.
Occasional "happy ending" massage, almost normal today. (A neighbor of mine told me his ex wife got mad at him for having an affair a decade after she had said she no longer had a sex drive. Before the affair he had "treated" himself to a happy ending massage about once a year. Women may find that disgusting, maybe it's addiction, or maybe it doesn't rise to the level of the definition of addiction.
Bottom line is if they aren't going to put out then we'll get it elsewhere. It's not our fault if they aren't going to service us.

Sex addiction is real, and it’s not about having a lot of sex. It’s more like when the desire for it has taken over a person’s life, or a huge portion of it. A heterosexual male sex addict might, for instance, find it extremely difficult not to stare at an attractive woman in a public place, even though he knows that he is probably looking creepy. At heart, he may be just as moral as the average guy, or more so. But unfortunately he has a compulsion that he is not able to control.
So you're saying all heterosexual males are basically sex addicts because we stare?
I'm clearly a sex addict, I always turn to check out a lady that walks by, especially when I'm in the park something hot runs by.
I’m an oxygen addict. I once tried to quit oxygen for like 60 seconds and I nearly passed out.
No it’s not even a real addiction

I visit hookers once or twice a week. It's an addiction and it costs a lot of cash.
You should definitely stop doing that.
