as some one who NEVER agrees with Jamin, I have to say a 45 min train commute blows a 30 minute bus commute out of the water, at least where i live (not in Seattle mind you, but suspect it might be similar)
comuter buses...always packed, forced to stand and do nothing at all, not productive , not relaxing, bus constantly stopping and starting causing people to smash into you as you hold onto a grimey ass pole trying to stand upshow up at work in bad mood and already mentally drained. still at the mercy of traffic
commuter train...(not subway, light rail...but actual train): always have a seat, relaxing smooth ride can read a book, get work done, have a cup of coffee, look out the window and relax without 30 people being smashed into you. on time everyday.
I count a 30 min bus ride as an extension of my working day....and a 45 min train ride as part of my 'time off" since I'm already unwinding, de-stressing from work and get home ready to go out and do something.
I AM surprised an avowed anti-socialist like Jamin would ride the train though, lol. maybe he's coming around
