Ok experts, please help me out with this.
In the link below, Lydiard mentions his approach to marathon training and says it takes 7 months (thank goodness, because that's what I'm doing).
He says three months of base building (fine), one month of hill resistance (fine) and then THREE MONTHS of track training!
Can someone put this into the proper context for me? Certainly I shouldn't abandon 20+ mile runs three months out from marathon day. Are we talking mile repeats here? Tempo runs on the track? Track intervals in ADDITION to one or two weekly long runs?
