So when an American loses to a Kenyan it's because they are 5 yrs older than they claim. Now they are lying to say they are not masters athletes? They are giving Americans fewer and fewer excuses for why they keep losing.

Well if you were to bet me everything is have to say 33 is not his actual age. Many Africans have age cheated or not known their actual age and listed it as younger. The deniers of age cheating in east Africa are the same ones who used to say Kenyans don't dope.
have you seen Alan Webb at that age... arguing age based just on looks alone is idiotic

https://www.nytimes.com/1997/10/26/sports/backtalk-yifter-always-running-for-ethiopia-now-runs-far-away-from-it.html?module=inlineAlthough does not know exactly how old he is --record keeping in the rural area where he was raised was spotty
I agree here. I encourage anyone to look at the live video of mr telephone man with a (then 14) bobby brown and tell me if he looked only 14. Then, i want you to think back to the late Lyle Alzado and tell me that he ever looked like he was only in his 20s at one time. Then look at Kipchoge. People age differently. Plus, if you look at the sheer time spent outside in the sun, it will age someone, regardless of the melanin quantity.

I mean he isn't wrong. Kipchoge surely is not young
I tend to agree with Zane here

There's just no way he is 33

Farah is 35 - and Kipchoge is 2 years younger? No way man.. Kipchoge might be 42

I love how people that accuse Africans of age cheating also don't acknowledge that their accusations grant them age-defying longevity.
it allows them to bring out the PED card.
Their narrative is ever shifting as their points become obsolete.
This is an exaggeration. He may very well be 34-37, but he doesn't look that old and he certainly is believable as 18-24 years old or so in 2003 if you look at the pictures.

I think this was in 2001 when Alan Webb was 18.
http://www.runpd.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Alan-Webb.jpgHere he might be around age 30.

.
Hicham El Guerrouj is definitely taller than 5'9. What is his actual height?

This looks like a young Alan Webb from an old picture.
https://www.instagram.com/p/BQtT5QxBOB4/This is Alan Webb at 34 years of age.
so do you really think Yifter the shifter knows his age, if you really think, you never been in Africa.
Regardless of his age, he won the WC 5k (one of the most competitive global 5ks ever) in 2003 and then obliterated the marathon WR... 15 years later. That’s as impressive as being 18 and winning WC 5k , OR , being 42 and running 2:01:39, IMO. The longevity is astounding & incontrovertible

Yes, at least 7 years over stated age. He was not 18 when he won the world champs 5k...
Pretty standard in Kenya, especially in the rural areas. Your birthdate is typically when you begin school. Geoffrey Mutai didn't even have a birth certificate. There's a reason a lot of Kenyans have Jan 1st as their DOB.

i think the word you are looking for is "inconceivable"
I used to post here back until 2004-5. I was backpacking since then around the world. I've recently come home and am catching up on letsrun. I just wanted to say 2:03:03 is the true WR.
Low IQ post. Lower your soy intake.
"Looking" a certain age is not being used as evidence here. It's the fact that E. Africans have a long and storied history of age cheating, coupled with absolutely insanely unbelievable times (12:4x "teenage" 5k runners and so on). This is WELL documented.

Is it even more impressive that someone +40 years old can run the marathon in 2 hours 1 min 39 sec?
This kind of thing is just stupid. First, an 18 year old that is a world class runner is not a typical 18 year old, and might not look like a typical 18 year old. In particular, he will have much less body fat and much more developed muscles than a typcical 18 year old. Both will cause him to look older than he is because typically the biggest change from 18 to say 23 is muscle development.
Also, some people look older than others. I have a good friend and a brother in law and a granfdfather who were all naturally completely bald by 25.
