When I awoke this morning, I realized I had received a sad note via text from a friend.
Litsky was certainly a GIANT in track and field journalism. Here's more on his great career from Walt Murphy.

I had dinner with him about five years ago. It was a lovely evening, and my wife, who knows zero about athletics, found the Mr. Litsky fascinating.
I was shocked at how much he knew about my own average track career in high school and Division 1.
What a gentleman, and I could have been up all night with him listening to his remembrances of performances in the 60's and 70's.
Thanks Rojo for bringing this our attention.
Everything I try to write sounds so trite next to the name Frank Litsky.
how tall was he exactly
The NY Times has published an incredibly good obituary about the man who wrote more than 300 obituaries himself. A fantastic read.

Nice call, Rojo. Yes: that is a loving and detailed obit. My late uncle worked at the NY Times for many years--an off-Broadway theatre critic and cultural reporter--and he would talk about putting obits in the can: work that would be there after he was dead and gone. But 65 post-death obits is crazy. I wish I'd met or known Litsky. As the saying goes, they don't make them like that anymore.
