First time posting here...
Recently finished my second marathon in 3:01 and change. Felt like went out a bit conservatively and managed a negative split running the second half in 1:28.
That was off the back of 14 weeks of training which i started with a goal of 3:30 in mind. I now want some advice on;
-How i should improve my training for my next marathon (April 19)
-What i should be aiming for (the obvious goal is sub 3 but i feel like with a good enough block i may not be aiming high enough)
An average week of training looked like;
Monday - rest or 5m easy
Tuesday - 13-15m progression, ending at about HM pace
Wednesday - 10 miles easy
Thursday - 8-10 miles tempo or 6m easy in AM and some sort of intervals work in PM
Friday - 5m easy
Saturday - 22m LR, always running negative split and usually running final 3 - 5 miles at GMP
Sunday - 6m easy
The paces of these runs got quicker as the block went on as i continually revised what i thought i was capable of.
Bit of background on me; been running for about 2 years (1 year taking it seriously) so been seeing quite drastic improvements in times as i put more and more effort in.
Thanks!
