He ran a second consecutive 206. A 2019 Spring marathon actually means nothing to him, the focus is on the 2020 trials. I think this might have been known before Chicago. Doctors probably said he'd be able to do it, then surgery.
Now maybe it was "closer" than they thought, but I have no doubt that all information was considered prior to Chicago.
