Looks like Katie Rainsberger made a good choice to xfer.
Went from potential #5 Duck to #1 Husky runner. -
Did Lilli Burdon come back from an injury ? Wow, Powell got crushed by her old team . Takes a year maybe

America loses to the United Nations (it's like the USA vs the world events at Penn Relays). Hopefully Hurta can run better at Nationals to make a game of it for CU. Be interesting to see what happens in Madison in three weeks.

so much for the Ducks having an off year due to transfers ---Rainsberger would have been their 5th by one spot if she stayed-LOL...
-
ALL Oregon?
Solid performance, to be sure, but I thought you were saying they swept the scoring spots. Or at least close - like when Wisconsin men went 1,2,3,4,6,7,8 at the Big 10 meet in 2005. I still remember the picture from the podium in that race, all the Wisco guys looking like they were on top of the world, with one of the Jefferson brothers for Indiana, looking forlorn in the middle (not sure why, since he was the only guy to break up the sweep!) -
Foreign athletes don't bother me but interesting Oregon seems to get a pass while other programs are called out. Here are the countries of their top 7 women today:
Australia
Poland
Kenya
Spain
Sweden
UK
California -
I watched both the men's and Women's races the Oregon women looked really good ;) the men not so much (. But when the Oregon Women get Brauer and Bowden going who I thought would be their 2 and 3rd runners this year going watch out. GO DUCKS
-
One has to wonder if Rainsberger transferred by choice or if the new coach pulled the scholarship to pave the way for the runners she brought with her. Australia, Poland, Kenya, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom and a token American in 7th. Should they pull the US Olympic Trials from Oregon since they no longer feel it is not a priority to develop US Olympic athletes?

That's over 30 points, but I know academics aren't a focal point at Oregon. -

I put leading results up in the first post.
My quick take is "the program is bigger than the coach." The Oregon women were Very Good.
On the men's side, unless STanford was holding someone out (where is Ratcliffe?), how can we expect them to challenge BYU or NAU at NCAAs?

Transferring because of coaching change is not always the best idea . Look how both her and Lilli Burdon ran . Like crap . Stop and think before you go nuts will false hopes and dreams . Now , if money was an issue that is legit .

Maybe they realized that they would be better off graduating from Washington because they can count to 30. Sounds like a good idea to me. -
What happen to the ASU men? Didn’t they have a bunch of transfers?

Most of the times when programs are relying heavily on foreigners, they throw out the excuse it is because US athletes don't want to run there (UTEP, UNM, Alabama, Arkansas, etc.) or as she argued at NCAA's last year that San Francisco was a real multi-national location and the composition of the athletes was merely a reflection of the existing culture. What is the excuse in Oregon? US athletes typically want to run there, and it's not like Oregon is this melting pot of cultures. What I'd like to see is honesty if she is interviewed at Nationals: "Yeah, the American athletes were too entitled so we told them to go someplace else and we decided it was in the best interest of the program to develop Olympic athletes for other countries." -
On the men’s side based on number 5 runner finish
Washington- 20
Stanford- 23
Oregon- 30
Colorado-41
This could be the upset maker at natty’s. Those high popsicle sticks hurt in the deep races. -
Oregon men, ugh!
-
ASU got a new coach, who is faced with basically starting from scratch, so not much was expected from them. It appears he's hitting on some good recruits, so we'll see how the Devils improve over the next 2-3 years.
Right now, though, if you took all of the colleges in Arizona and had a XC meet, ASU would be fifth behind NAU, Arizona, Grand Canyon and Central Arizona.
