Just because some countries lack world class athletes doesn't make a 10.24 a world class time. And the NFL has had a TON of guys with sub 10.20 jets.
What pro sprinter has a PR no faster than a 10.24? Give me the name of a world class sprinter who can't break 10.24, good luck.
I see what you are saying but think about it from a football perspective. What matters there would be 60m pbs or really 30-40 m pbs as that's where "a bomb" would be thrown. Only 11.1 % of NFL passes are even more than 20 yards.
Goodwin's 60m pb is 6.67. Asafa Powell's Jamaican record is 6.44.
If they ran all out at PR shape, 40m down the field Goodwin would be 1.4 m behind Powell. And that's about how much far behind your average 10.5-6 NFL corner would be behind Goodwin.
When has Goodwin ever ran in a WC 100m field? He never has. When has he ever made any USA team as a sprinter, he never has. When has he ever did anything that WC sprinters are doing? Yep, never.
He was a great long jumper with good speed like all long jumpers must have but how many of them are also WC sprinters, yep, a few but a small %.
If Goodwin is WC with just a 10.24w PR that means we have HS kids who are also WORLD CLASS. 10.24 is not WC when we have 9.79 sprinters out there.
A football 40 has nothing to do with WC speed, case in point John Ross ran that 4.22 record, the guy can't even break a10.4 100m.
Who ever considered Herschel Walker a WC sprinter, hell he ran a 10.23, nut was never thought of as a WC guy. just a fast footbballer.
