What is interesting however is that her time was only 50 seconds faster than last weekend.
Her teammates all improve between 1:30 and 1:54 over last weekend. Yet "she" jogged last weekend? I don't get it.
Interesting point, though I did not say she jogged. I can only speculate that she handles the tougher (hillier) course better? Or maybe they rested a little for this meet as apparently this was a big deal to them that they won? But I am only speculating.

you lost any credibility with me when you said running 30 seconds per mile slower than maximum effort for 3 miles is a hard effort.
The last person I'm worried about gaining credibility from is you. Your response shows that you are just a weekend jogger, albeit a slow one at that.
30 seconds per mile is a hard effort. It's not jogging (an easy effort), like what you do, and it's not all out, like racing. You obviously have major insecurity issues as you've argued with several people on here over a high school runners times and effort. You've got to be what, 48 years old? Give it a rest.
My MCAT score was 524, I personally don't give a hoot about your layman opinion of what is or isn't a hard effort. I ran in high school for 4 years and made it to States every year. I highly doubt you even ran in high school, you're just an armchair quarterback trying to cover for your many shortcomings.
You shared too much. I won't out you, but I definitely know who you are. Michigan, correct? If this is you (M.C.), don't let the anyone bug you on here. Duane is a guy who wants to be right and has too much time on his hands, let him believe it...he needs it. Congrats on Med School and I saw your name in Ann Arbor News, so you're still kicking butt! All the best M.C.!
Speaking of insecurity, your need to throw out insults left and right speaks volumes. In high school, yes a long time ago, I could run 5:00/mile for 3 miles (on the track), and 5:30 a mile for 6 miles (on the road). 5:30 pace didn't even phase me for the first 3 miles. And I have no idea what you mean by saying 30 seconds per mile is a hard effort. And yes I wish I could run 30 seconds per mile, or even 3 minutes 30 seconds for just one mile. I think you mean backing off 30 seconds a mile is still a hard effort, but you might want to work on your writing skills.
Wow! About as immature a post as I've seen here in at least the last 45 seconds. Are we to believe with all the name calling drivel that you are in college? Sorry, but all I can say is grow the f up.
Settle down boys -- there is room enough for two Uncle Ricos on here. I am sure that both of you would have won State back in '82.
Nope, I graduated from high school years before that. I was out of college by 1982 for that matter.
I was comparing NY#2 team (Manlius) speed rating of their team compared to North Rockland in their respective last race.
Manlius: 151,131,118,118,103
North Rockland: 172,122,115,111,108
North Rockland is not very far behind. North Rockland #2,3 and 4 are behind. But they are ahead on the all important #5. Clearly, #3 and #4 still need to improve however. Not a crazy amount however.
I say that Tuohy will be going to NXN
All of that is true, although an unknown is whether any FM or Liverpool girls are also improving, but agree NR chances for NXN are getting better. In particular last year Phoebe White was pretty close to Claire Walters - does she regain form after injury?
Do top 2 or top 3 NY teams get automatic trip to Nationals?

Top 2 goes to NXN, 3rd can get in with a wildcard bid.
Last year Saratoga had an off race at NXR NY and finished 3rd but competed at NXN because they were chosen by the committee.
Saratoga looks pretty strong as well... Even with Chmiel not racing as much the team has been doing well recently, and she's a definite low stick being the next best runner in the country to Tuohy.

North Rockland is now clearly ahead of Niskayuna (118,110,110,110,105) at Manhatan invitational and Shenendehowa (124,118,110,101,101) in the same race.
North Rockland are probably also still a little behind Saratoga too (Chmiel, 133, 114, 114, 106). In their last race. Liverpool is way ahead. Untouchable.
I can't see the coach not giving the team a chance to make NXN, given how much the team has progressed this season. FM and Saratoga are not so much ahead of them.
Top 2 make it. You basically need to be third to make at large.
FVCK off Duane and Kmaclam, you're both delusional boneheads who know nothing about running. Grow the f up, both of you pieces of poop!

You couldn't break 5 minutes for 3/4 of mile!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!!!!!! 15:00 would be your 2 mile time old man!!!!!!!!

Thank you - good post. Went thru the latest Tully data I could find and I see basically what you said. Latest NR performance vs others based on Tully 10-22 results shows for a NY merge (to the best of my ability):
Liverpool places 4/7/16/38/40 for 105 strong 4/5 (in NY)
FM places 3/15/20/34/104 for 176 strong #1-4
Saratoga places 2/9/46/73/78 for 208 strong #1-2
NR places 1/20/40/55/63 for 179 (includes their 10/25 performances)
So as you said Liverpool is out of reach everybody else pretty close. Very different story from a week ago for NR. If FM #5 improves much they may be out of reach too.
I agree the right thing for the coach to do is to give the team the shot at a trip to Portland. Tuohy gets more than enough attention and awards as is. The experience can also help NR improve for next year. I was hoping to see her run in San Diego, but no matter.
If you see flaws in the above please say so. I will stay abreast with updates to Tully data.
I can envision, NR current #4 go up to #3 (maybe even #2). Two races ago, she was 59 seconds behind Ruffino (#3) and she is now only 12 seconds behind. BTW: Ruffino had the best race of her life this week.
Also current #5 and #6 were 39 seconds behind Ruffino 2 races ago and now they are only 21 seconds behind. I can see them getting much closer to Ruffino in the next month. Perhaps even ahead of her.
As a coach, you want to see your #4,#5 and #6 improving. That's exactly what NR is experiencing.

Liverpool and FM are going to NXN.
Liverpool because they're the best team in NY right now.
And FM, because they're FM, and they don't not go to NXN.
That puts the battle at 3rd place, and an 'at large' bid, which you could make an argument for North Rockland being in the mix for...but I have a pretty hard time seeing them taking 3rd over a healthy Saratoga, despite the real good progress they've made over the course of the season.
And even if they did, it's still probably pretty unlikely that there aren't four 3rd or 4th place teams from other regions who are more worthy of 'at large' bids than they are.
So the question becomes...
Do you put this team in that scenario, where it's 'iffy' at best that they'll qualify for NXN, and wait until next year to have Miss Tuohy go answer all of those Footlocker questions?
Or do you go handle the Footlocker thing now, and wait until next year to go after the NXN bid, when this whole team returns a year older and stronger, and could potentially be a podium contender in Portland?
I just don't see North Rockland going to NXN this year, and it seems pretty silly to take this shot now and not have Tuohy do Footlocker, if that's still their plan, when you should theoretically have a better team to go at NXN with next year.
If North Rockland takes the NXN-NY shot this year, you'll probably never see Katelyn Tuohy run Footlocker.
How late can they make the decision on NXN vs FL? Perhaps they see how things go vs FM (NY State championship) on November 10 and then decide?
