Hi all,
last autumn I posted here about my grave doubts about the world record for John O'Groat's to Lands End being incorrect.
Although the specialists in the Ultra community are very much behind me, I have sadly been unable to persuade Guinness that this world record by 10%, set by a runner who did nothing of note before or after, should be taken down. They have told me that they're unable to find "clear malpractice".
So, in some ways we've come to the end of the road, and I fear the mark will stand for many decades to come as it is seemingly untouchable. [No one in history has gone under Richard Brown's previous WR of 10 days 2, so I doubt they're going to go 9 days 2hr.) The mark is of a higher relative quality to what even the great Yiannis Kouros managed.
Anyway, I've written a long essay about my journey with the case this last 10 months, so interested to hear what the community thinks.

One interesting thing I found out yesterday is that Rivett's coach [also his undercover step-brother], who wrote a self-help book on the back of taking an unknown into the world endurance champion, has posted loads of fake reviews of his book on the Waterstones website, making it the greatest reviewed book in history, with a tidy average of 4.85 stars out of 5. Lloyd did also serve a spell in Durham prison for kidnap and blackmail, but was acquitted.
So this man is posting some big numbers, whether it be via his coaching - or writing.
All the best, Will
