The Left wants to avoid it because they see institutionalization as against individual liberty.
The Right doesn't want to pay for it.
Nah, the left has nothing against institutionalizing the mentally ill if they pose a danger to themselves or others.
You can thank Reagan for current lack of mental health facilities. Liberals warned that this would happen 30-odd years ago when he started shutting down them down (you know the old line o' patter: trickle down, small government, trickle down, small government, blah, blah).
And here we are. Reagan's long gone, but his moronic legacy lives on.
Applause. Everything my dad predicted about Reagan came true. He said it would lead to corporate greed, thereby exploding the gap between rich and middle class, with fewer pensions and fewer ways for people without a college education to provide for their family.
More than anything, dad said Reagan was enabling hate by dividing the classes. Then Rosalyn Carter summed it up best of all, regarding Reagan: “I think the President makes us comfortable with our prejudices,” she said.
Trump took what was already there and allowed them to not only feel comfortable but to believe it was necessary and somehow patriotic.
