I have no idea about the distance but here is what we do know. Last year Nico won in 14:01 and then ran 15:05 to take 4th at NXN. If the course is 3.0 miles, that leaves a gap of 30+ seconds to explain vs the (5K) NXN course for conditions/difficulty. And that assumes the 14:01 winning effort was consistent with the 4th place NXN effort. The NXN course has hills, but is certainly not extremely hilly. If you compare this year's 13:39 vs the Balboa Park record of (I think ~14:40) you still get the same 60 seconds to explain, meaning 30 seconds + for hills. Unless you are telling me Nico would run 14:25 ish at Balboa Park. 15 seconds fast seems too low.
