Lol. So much fun watching mostly JV teams do tempo runs against each other this time of year. Cross country rules!

seems to be an issue where NCAA mandates a race within a couple weeks of teams starting practices -can't blame teams for not racing the 1st meet of year-ie Stanford recently in San Fran using it as a tempo-(and their freshman not racing) when you have a big racing period later in the fall (prenats etc) wouldn't make much sense to race hard early, but it would suck to be Boise St. travelling and taking the Sundog as a race and seeing Washington runners 'dogging it no pun intended....
You can completely recover from a 20 minute race in 3 days. Coaches are too stupid to understand how to incorporate racing into a training schedule that would make runners faster than just training all the time.

Brenna Peloquin no longer runs on the team. She quit to get healthy according to what it looks like on Facebook.
and Flotrack thinks she is still running. Ha Ha. They are so stupid!

It was a workout. From the official meet preview on their website: “Saturday will be a ‘workout-type effort in a fun setting,’ according to Director of Track & Field Maurica Powell. ‘We have only had a few days with the student-athletes, so who runs on Saturday will be based on the best long term decisions for the season. The plan is to run in groups at a determined pace."

no wonder no one pays attention to this sport.
I agree, it's both lame and extremely disrespectful towards your competition. My respect for the Powell's has dropped ten floors. I hope they don't host dinner parties like that.
So is it ok to have your team go all out in a race three days after the first day of organized practices, especially with athletes you’ve inherited from Greg Metcalf?
