which bronco runners were the top 5?
where can i get results?
no results up yet, i think boise state twitter might be best option. I have a feeling Sundodger won't post until all races are official.
Brono men go 1-7 so hard to know how the Huskies were treating this race. Kinda lame to use your flagship (and only) home meet of the year as a workout.
It was a workout. From the official meet preview on their website: “Saturday will be a ‘workout-type effort in a fun setting,’ according to Director of Track & Field Maurica Powell. ‘We have only had a few days with the student-athletes, so who runs on Saturday will be based on the best long term decisions for the season. The plan is to run in groups at a determined pace."

Lol, actually Boise put 6 in front of Rainsberger
can't read too much into it on the Washington side I guess, but Boise St. showing some depth behind Ostrander

How stupid. It is an offing race, what a joke. I agree with the above poster, hard to respect this sport.
[quote] stay home next time [/quote}
lol, the sad thing is they WERE home. I get it if it's just a low key opener dual but this is their only home meet and used to be a pretty good sized invite.
Hard to gain local support when you fake it through the home invitational get completely demolished on your home course. I get the strategy, but there are longer term repercussions from treating your home invites like an exhibition.
Plus, getting beat by a minute has to play into Rainsbergers head , even if just a little bit.
Disappointing. Either let your B squad race or have your A squad race without any change in their training routine. It disrespects the sport to step on the starting line and then just run a reduced pace workout, particularly at your own invitational.
No not 5th, like 10th.
Boise State hammered the Powell's in the opening . They are saying a controlled effort , more like a butt whipping!
But still a nothing meet. Would of like to seen Rainsberger at least more competitive. Way back
Rebuilding there
My opinion only, but if the Powells could've cancelled this meet, they would've done so.
Someone with better knowledge of NCAA rules might want to chime in on this, but I got the impression that UW (which starts school at the end of September) only ran this meet to satisfy a rule stating that in order for you to hold a pre-season training camp before school starts, that you have to run a meet X number of days before or after camp?
Washington only got together as a team on Tuesday (September 4th). None of the Washington runners wore spikes as opposed to Boise State's. Most of the Washington runners wore a heavier racing flat/tempo training shoe. Under the previous coaching staff, the UW/SeattleU dual meet was the meet they ran as a controlled workout.
Bottom line--the Powells weren't tripping over the results of this meet.
To quote the great American philosopher Aaron Rodgers, "R-E-L-A-X"
The bigger question is where's Brenna Peloquin?

Well just so you know, the NCAA mandates a certain amount of races per season to remain a sponsored sport and you can't afford to go for broke in every meet of the year.
You can't blame the coaches for finding creative ways to abide by the rules.

right, my point wasn't that they needed to race hard every meet, just that choosing to treat their lone home meet, one with three decades of history as a workout may not be the best choice. Send the B squad on an away meet as a reward. There are a lot of ways to avoid overreaching, I just think the one they chose was not the best.
Imagine you are a recruit for a school that blows off the only home meeet of the season, the only time that your friends/family might be able to see you perform. Now compare that to competing at Hayward. (well before they tore it down.....ooops)
I say race hard once at home early, then alternate resting half your top runners each meet until conference. At conference run hard as team and go for the win.
I understand the concept of avoiding over racing, but there's also something to be said for practicing running hard with team stakes on the line.
Come on? How many races do they run in a season? Three? What is up with a complete fear of racing? Not saying they should race balls to the walls every week, but this complete fear of racing is BS. What happens is that too many hammer too many hard workouts and end up injuring half their teams anyways.
Some of the top schools run 4 meets prior to conference. That gives them 2-3 weeks between meets which seems like plenty of time to train and recover. Some coaches seem to think that runners really should only run 4 hard effirts in total though which would allow for only one hard meet prior to conference.
Doesn’t do much for the sport when you do this type of thing . Happens time and time again ! Pretty poor
I guess Lilli Birdon is still sunbathing on a beach in New Zealand which is repetitively pulls off very nicely thank you !
