I've been thinking the same thing. In addition to having the quite narrow start, allowing people to crowd up front and make the start dangerous, is not a good thing. They need to actively sort out the runners at the start based on previous performances, and instill in them the importance of having quiet starts. Also, anyone out of place who's knocking others around over the first 5k or so of the course, need to be barred from participation at future events.
