Semenya is a man.
The resulting chatter is nonsense.
If Coe had the balls like Semenya,
He would have dealt with this laughing stock.

Rude but so true, 9 years and this ridiculous ravesty is still ongoing.
I'm honestly surprised so many LetsRunners are ok with Caster running against women.
Are you guys stupid or stupid?
Either way, you are wrong. Even if Caster is a woman, she effectively cheating by having testosterone levels above the threshold. So, she should be banned as a drug cheat or not allowed to compete against women. It's simple.

When Semenya first ran in the world championships and there were questions about whether she would be banned from competition, her handlers had her pose with hair extendions and talk about how much she enjoyed being a girl. Once the CAS ruled in her favor she made no pretense about her lack of femininity, and her supporters called out people who comment on her masculine appearance as Neanderthals and haters.
Is it too much to ask that athletes who want to compete against women at least identify as women, like Renee Richards?

Damn straight it is. Revealing of some sick mf parents forcing their young kids to watch some hermaphrodite for self gratification.
"But daddy, I want to go out in the backyard and play". "No, you just sit right here watching this athletics meet and I'm going to ask you some questions."
Yeah right. Them the fools that should be locked up. What else they forcing on those poor kids? Bunch of sick puppies that type no mistake.

Ha ha, brilliant! Yeah, I bet the OP and these types are also hugely intrigued by Lady Boys as well and forcing their young relatives to sit down and watch them as well - you think that's a lady don't you? Well you're wrong, look he's got a little dick down there...
It's all a bit Kevin Spacey's American Beauty this thread.
Just plain sad

Yeah, it's as common as the neanderthal, geniuses who queue up on this site to make such startling "revelations. Like that half-wit who said something like "My six year old son was just settling down to watch some backwater Women's 800m meet (yeah, friggin right he was!) and he turned to me with tears in his eyes - Why's a man in this race pappa. Well it's just disgrace!" Froth, froth, froth, de friggin froth...
Well he's the thing Sherlocks, we can ALL SEE what she looks like. It is NO major scientific breakthrough your athletic layman relatives have come up with. They haven't cracked some incredible secret code that none of the rest of us can't see. You don't need to come on here frothing at the mouth to report this stunning development.
Actually, I think perhaps, I am the nit-wit whose six year old son asked why a man was running in a field of women. That backwater race was the 2009 Athletics World Championships. It was a semi final. I was beyond shocked as well as my friend who was sitting next to me watching. My son is now 15 and runs high school cross country. I am sure he is faster than you?
I actually have met Caster a number of times and although she looks male has a lot of girl mannerism when you are standing next to her. I will see and talk to her in a few days.
The dim with you refer to is well know on the athletics circuit and I am currently in Zurich awaiting the DL finals. I will travel to Brussels and I will also attend the Continental Cup. I am always amazed at the number of LR poster that reverts to name calling no matter what the topic.
A really tiresome thread and Celery, you tasteless, underwhelming vegetable, please try to modernize yourself and use correct terminology. Would you use the "r" word for someone with developmental issues? Would you use the "m" word for someone of small stature? In a perverse way I hope you answer "yes" so that you are consistently ignorant -- but please register your lack of appropriateness when dealing with issues of gender in today's world. Education is a powerful tool -- look into it.
Actually I said half-wit not nit-wit but whatever you prefer I guess. And I too am equally amazed that you'd consider that specific "name calling" as, per my previous post, I mentioned no specific user, and said "something like" as I couldn't remember the exact post. It really was a comment into the ether until you decided to be offended enough to make it otherwise.
But since you have, here again is the key comment;-
" I was beyond shocked as well as my friend who was sitting next to me watching."
How exactly in a million years could you or anyone else be "beyond shocked" that a kid would think she was a man? I mean, seriously, come on - she looks like a man! Like I said previously, you and the OP's relatives have cracked no incredible secret code, the rest of us have not been smoking some potent drug and are seeing some incredible feminine beauty, completely aghast at being presented with some seismic revelation when these beyond crass comments are made.
Dude..okay half wit, nit wit ain't exactly a compliment. And that story is so specific to my experience I would think it was me. And yeah it was shocking to my friend and I as my son had NEVER commented or even paid attention to any athletics event before despite me yelling at the screen. I had no idea he even recognized the different competition categories. I guess you had to be there. Great story. You remembered it. Lovely day in Zurich. Glad your not here.
Okay so whats the problem with posters statng non ruuning family or friends stating they think Caster look 100% male? If you heard it before ir trouble by the post be smart and dont waste your time replying...so simple.
To others Caster is being allowed to take money, titles, prestige, and alot ire from deserving ladies!
Isn’t it true that Semenya isn’t a female or a male? That she’s intersexed? She identifies as a woman so she competes with women. And the only reason this is bad is because she wins?
How many intersex athletes are there? I’m assuming not enough to create a new division so what is she suppose to do? If we agree that being intersexed may give an athlete an advantage over women, could we also agree that it likely gives them a disadvantage against men? Is it fair to make all intersex athletes compete as men and lose because one (or a few) intersex athletes are successful competing against women?
I can’t imagine the difficulties of being born intersex - in a world that only recognizes two sexes. You just don’t fit in. Think about what that would be like? What if it were you? Or your child? Are you suppose to just stay hidden away because you don’t fit in? You are forced to pick a gender to identify as, because society makes you, but then you aren’t allowed to be female anymore if you’re fast?
I understand why people get upset. But I think if people tried a little empathy they would relax and hopefully approach this difficult situation without all the anger and hostility. Make it personal. What would you want for your intersexed child who you raised as a daughter? If she found success as a runner you wouldn’t want that for her?
Noone can be thst naive Sir. Caster's tezterone (therefore strength and aerobic endurance) levels are such that its impossible for other women to obtain in which gives Caster an advantage over women thst isnt fair.
I empathize with Caster's situation but its not fair to regular women, their families, fans, and their sponsors. More than jyst the women are being affected by this travesty and its mot just Caster competing like that anymore.

Nice slip, bro.
???
Are you guys idiots?
They're trying to do what's right but it isn't easy to implement new rules without getting sued. If they were to make any sudden rulings without proper legal legislation, IAAF would likely be sued which would allow intersex females to unfairly compete and that would be the end of it.
Baby steps. They're doing what they need to do.
Btw... Let's be clear. While Semenya does have higher than typical levels of testosterone, she is still a woman, just an intersex woman. She does NOT have 'male levels' of testosterone; she likely has about 3x the average woman's levels. A man has about 8x as much.
What is the threshold that separates a "hobbyjogger" from a "sub-elite" runner?
