What I'm concerned about now is if her legs can feasibly recover while still doing basketball? We're in a small school so cross country is completely over and we're moving this summer so hopefully it won't be an issue next year.
Do you think her legs can or cannot recover while still playing/practicing basketball or does she need a complete break? She hasn't run at all since Oct 11th and yet she's still in pain every day after school (basketball practice).
Let’s see what we know here:
1. Girl
2. Probably age 11-15, since that’s when kids typically start running cross country
3. Didn’t run at all after October 11th
4. Crap training plan with high intensity but low mileage
5. Basketball probably didn’t start right away after October 11th
It seems like a kid would have probably completely recovered from any running in a week or two.
Sounds like either a real injury or growing pains based on the previous inferences. Maybe she’s too young to train seriously yet.
I would think that basketball practice wouldn’t be very physically demanding compared to running, especially if she had the schedule that you mentioned for a few months in a row.
See a doctor.
