Just work on being the type of person someone else would want to be with. That means having your own thing and being self-directed, even passionate about your pursuits. Don't seem needy - major turn-off.
Went away from hometown for a summer job. Relaxed, "let my hair down" and had fun being myself. Wasn't looking for a relationship, but found my wife, or she found me.

I was a guest at three of her weddings.
College track. You missed the boat.
I met my wife through LetsRun.com. The Brojos came to our wedding.
I met my wife to be back in college. She was a grad assistant teaching a statistics class.
Met her in Vegas; she was working as an escort but we clicked, and that was that. I think she was a pretty good runner back in her younger days but I don't care about that stuff.
Match.com. She was my first Match.com date. We lived 570 miles apart. So we picked a town 285 miles from each of us and met there. She was 41, I was 44. We were engaged nine months after that and married almost exactly a year after getting engaged. Fourteen years, a 12-year old son, and counting.
Yes, there is hope!

A lot of alcohol can provide motivation. Good luck and don’t Puke!!! Chicks hate that!

We had something like a 98 or 99% compatibility score and I thought she looked and sounded cute/smart/funny, so I sent her a message that showed that I had clearly read her profile. I didn't hear anything back for a couple weeks, and had pretty much forgotten about it when she messaged me back (she had been on vacation in Hawaii). A few more messages led to a date which quickly lead to another, and so on. We got married a little over 2 years later, and now have a 1-year-old daughter.
Met my wife at the Foster’s Freeze across the street from the track at Santa Monica College. I was training with the Santa Monica Track Club. The runners would often go there for a drink after running. At the time she was 17 and I was 21, we married two years later. We celebrated our 44th anniversary last week.

I met my wife at a semi-organized fun run.
Actually it was at an informal meal gathering after the run.
We have been together a long time.
My advice: get out there and do things you like to do. You are not going to meet anyone in the basement. Be friendly, open, and a good person and people will respond to you.
Do not go into situations with expectations or just because you think you will meet someone there. Do what you like to do because you like to do it. By keeping it real you can meet someone who has one of the same interests as you. (something in common).
If you really like to hang out in bars and drink, go do that, but you are likely to meet other people who like to hang out in bars and drink there.
We had both traveled some miles to attend the fun run we met at. We both went out there, a little beyond our comfort zone and normal haunts, to be there. And we both would have been happy with the experience even if we had not met each other.
I was a cashier at Taco Bell. She was an obese black woman. She told me she wanted something hot and spicy. I told her I've got just what you need. My body covered in Fire Sauce all night long. We both had diarrhea the next day, but it was love at first sight.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
