Agreed
I think Lewandowski was just pumped with the fact that he was 10th/11th with 150 to go then he clutched himself all the way to 2nd in the home straight. It was very impressive. I honestly would've at least been a little pissed that I didn't kick a little earlier or got in better position, I mean he was coming like a rocket, very Robby Andrews esque. 3 more meters and he would've taken the dub. But he didn't.
Jakob ingebrigtsen... FOR THE WINNN!!!!

Lewandowski was the real beast in this race, in terms of distance runners he probably won by 20m, just bad strategy.
-
Regarding fading, Jakob told norwegian TV that he was expecting people to come up on the side of him, as he had another gear. When no one did, combined with the lap counter showing 1 lap left, he started doubting himself a little. In his mind, there was nothing to suggest that he was on the final stretch in a European Championship.

A close-up of him at the finish, he wasn’t even breathing deeply, and unlike African 17 year olds, he actually looks 17, not 34.

I thought the same thing.
I'd love to know what the family plan for the race was. You have to think this wasn't what they were hoping for.
The brothers had discussed several scenarios, starting at the back and easing up to front was one (as happened), Filips muscles had tightened because of the spike injury, Henrik did as expected, could maybe been third had he started his finish earlier, I also agree that Jakob faded at the end, but he had then been at the lead for 800 meters and that is tough and takes away finishing power, which many of us know.
Filip definitely cost Henrik a medal. Henrik was well positioned coming into the final 200m, and FIlip just kept going backwards, which resulted in Henrik having no where to go. I think Henrik expected Filip (maybe part of their prerace plan) to have more in the tank, and he was gonna follow him to the finish. -
Filip injured his ribs in the fall in the semifinal. This affected his performance in the final and has caused him to withdraw from the 5000 m final.
Jakob actually was confused and thought there might be one round to go; he could not understand why the competitors did not catch up with him. That is why he slowed the last 40 meters. -
He was cruising. In interviews he said he got confused by something showing 1 and the competitors not catching up with him; he thought there might be one lap left.
-
Yes maybe, but where he open the gap and so he wins the race is with that great surge with 100 m to go , there he makes a 10 m gap. But I dont understand the way he slow down in last 40 m , maybe he was in full control of the situation and saved energy
for the 5000 but to watch it from outside is like he risks losing the race. -

He thought he won, but Lewondowski was celebrating so that's why he wasn't so sure. Would like to have seen Lewondowski's reaction when the results were posted.
He knew he was second. He was still dancing around with the mascot about 5 minutes later. -

He does not look 17 to us. I'm not saying he isn't, but he looks older.
Check out the header picture on this guy's Twitter for two Kenyans of the same age (George Manangoi and Justus Soget) he was competing with. I think they look five to seven years younger than him.

^ Obviously not the picture I'm talking about. That's Selemon Barega and Edward Zakayo.

Give it up el K. As more and more of your countrymen get busted you look sillier and sillier.
And it will be amusing to see your current crop of "juniors" go the way of Koech and Kwemboi. -

Apt picture though of the obviously 28+ Zakayo posing as a child. -

What? That George guy looks at least 20 or something, while Jakob looks like an average 17-year-old, albeit not baby-faced. -

Click on the link to see the background picture I'm talking about. Those two are what real 17/18 year old Kenyans look like Sorry, but Jakob looks mid-twenties to us. -

I am also thinking very Rui Silva-esque:

It's not really a relevant discussion anyway.
East Africans are proven age cheaters, it's not really a stretch to suggest an old looking 17 year old Kenyan is a cheat. On balance, they more than likely are.
Jakob could look young or old, the simple fact is there is no way he could possibly be an age cheater. You can't get away with something like that in a country like Norway. -

List of the age cheaters, with proof they're not the age they say, would be nice. That Justus Soget is in his last year of high school can be publicly verified.
