you guys are nuts and/or looking at the wrong results. there are two W45 runners with a matching time and one of them is clearly her.
please keep thread posted on baa response.

So I made the cutoff of 4:52 and was just rejected. I ran Berlin 2 weeks ago 3:49:33. I am turning 45 in November, female so BQ was 3:55.
i ran 35 sec faster than cutoff... ?

actually in her post she said she was a 45 yr old single mom.
Turning 45 in November, she said.
Learning to love this forum! Yes age 44 yes W45 yes 3:49:33 . Thanks for all this interest in my marathon! ???
OK, back 2 business:
BAA wrote back. Seems they sent out a bunch of rejection emails to people whose times still had to be verified. These mails were a mistake. ?
Now, they are working hard to verify our times and yes, I WILL get in when they do. That’s what they wrote. It’s unlikely they won’t be able to do that, seeing as how I sent them a link to the SCC results, the official PDF of my certificate (you guys need that here too maybe? ?..) and I cc-ed the SCC, of which I am also a card carrying member.
Surely the whole wide world will soon agree that I ran the Berlin marathon in the time stated. But do go check out my strava account just to make sure.
congrats on getting in and thanks for providing a distraction for those who didn't :-)
you sound very entitled. I'm guessing you're American. I couldn't less about your whining, so stop spamming this thread. has nothing to do w/ your gender.

I bet she failed verification because she accidentally signed up for Berlin with the wrong birthday and is in the wrong age group in the results. she's clearly in W45 in the results (US female with Berlin running club), but according to her, she should have been W40.
This case is closed!!
Ok here we go:

This is certainly the easiest way top drop entries. I wonder how many entries would be pared away if Boston didn't allow entry through downhill courses.
exactly. you're W45, but W45 is for women 45-49, but you are 44. I'm just guessing but that might have caused a discrepancy in the verification process that needed to be further reviewed manually, and they didn't get it to before sending out your rejection, and are now all like "oops".
Boston kinda sucks anyway. Tough course. Tough weather. I did it 2017. Never again.
*dammit I did it 2018.
It didn’t have anything to do with my age group or whatever. The mail wasn’t an answer to mine. They sent me a form letter. They seem to have sent a lot of people the same rejection mail by mistake yesterday.
Yesterday afternoon (Thursday, September 27), an e-mail of non-acceptance was mistakenly sent to you regarding your registration status for the 2019 Boston Marathon. Because your qualifying time had not yet been verified, you received this e-mail by accident. We apologize for this error. Your status remains pending because we are still working to confirm your application submission.
We ask that you bear with us as we still manually verify your qualifying time and entry submission. You will be accepted into the 2019 Boston Marathon provided the information you submitted is accurate, and your qualifying time was equal to or faster than four minutes, 52 seconds (4:52) under your qualifying standard.
Deer Zylonne,
You seem fixated on turning this thread into a chronicle of your personal journey -- against all odds -- from likely BQ'er to mistakenly rejected BAA applicant and back again. And I, for one, am loving it.
Rooting for you!

Unfortunately for me, my rejection mail was legit. I missed my M50-54 cut off time by 16 seconds. Ran 3:25:24 in my first, and so far only marathon. Needed 3:25:08. I keep thinking where I could have shaved off a few seconds. Having to hit the porta potty around mile 14 was the big one. Longest minute+ of my life. I remember thinking if that pit stop kept me out of Boston...
I also stopped at the mat that sometimes precedes the finish line so an announcer knows who's approaching the finish. Thought I was done and walked a few seconds, wondering what all the hoopla up in front of me was about. Didn't take too long to realize my 26.2 wasn't quite over yet. That probably only cost me 5 seconds or so, but not entirely sure.
So now I either get faster or tread water for three years until I age up into the next group :-) Think I'll work towards the former!
