It is cool to see Flanagan pacing, but if this is going to be a low 8:30s race, I will be surprised to see Flanagan go more than a couple of laps. Also, it is hard to imagine Flanagan traveling this far just to pace; is see also running a race? Flanagan ran the 5K at this meet last year.
She ran 8:43 indoors this year with the pacemaker only going 1200m. 14:35 5K pace is 70's so 8:45 3k pace. And she's probably been doing more speed than she did in her boston build up. If someone can at least get Shalane started (maybe first 800m) she can hit 3k in 8:47-8:48. That would be perfect as Shelby could negative split and get the AR. I'm almost inclined to say Shalane could go 3400m hitting 70-71's.
