Correct. The issue was with MLE, the “governing federation”, who didn’t want him to compete in “unsanctioned” events. He responded by boycotting Nathan’s one year, there was bad blood and criminal charges for nothing, which were all summarily dismissed.

He should be on a prank show where he goes to a place that serves hot dogs and continually comes back to eat two at a time just a minute apart or something like that, so the cash register person is like "What the hell?" That'd be hilarious.

I'm not a vegetarian or some weirdo but I do object to the contest itself. Stuffing hot dogs into
your face is stupid. Gluttony, a sin. Nathans has nothing to be proud of. What they could do instead
of an eating contest is to sponsor an early morning road race at Coney Island. The runners could go for
a swim after the race, and then go to a large cookout with some free hot dogs. Since it's a hot time of year the
race could be as short as a 2-miler ---and watch the field soar to thousands.
Just like Kramer didn't want to wear the ribbon Special K wouldn't wear the Nathan's jersey.
The real pros are the ppl (largely Asian women) who binge-eat on YouTube, etc.
